Note
All even rows are WS rows. All WS rows are purl.

Inc2 K, yo, K in same stitch.
The inc2 will always be centered over the yo of the previous inc2. To avoid confusion place markers on the center stitches until the pattern is understood. A piece of contrast yarn is a good marker you may “weave” it through the knitting and remove later.
Ssk Slip, slip, knit these two stitches together.
S2KP2 Slip 2 knitwise, knit1, pass 2 slipped stitches over.
M1 Lift the yarn between two stitches of row below, and knit through it twisting the lifted stitch.
Hdc Half double crochet.

Back
With larger needles make a slip knot. Row 1(RS) Work inc2 in slip knot—3 sts. 2 and all WS rows Purl. 3 K1, M1, inc2, M1, k1. 5 K1, M1, k2, inc2, k2, M1, k1. 7 K1, M1, k4, inc2, k4, M1, k1. 9 K1, M1, k6, inc2, k6, M1, k1. 11-39 Continue knitting 2 additional stitches either side of the inc2 every RS row until you have 79 stitches on needles. 41- 89 Maintain pattern and stitch count by: K1, k2tog, knit to center st, inc2, knit to end less 3 stitches, ssk, k1. 91 *K1, k2tog, k34, ssk, k1, place remaining stitches on holder. 93-121 K1, k2tog, k across less 3, ssk, k1. 123 K1, k2 tog, ssk, k1. 125 K1, k2 tog, k1. 127 S2KP2, break yarn.
Place stitches on holder and center st on needles and repeat rows 91 through 127.

Back side panels
Place a marker 8 inches below shoulder on either side of back. Pick up and knit 3 stitches for every 4 rows along edge from hem to marker. Work stockinette stitch decreasing at armhole every right side row 10 times. Then work even to required underarm width. Repeat for opposite side.

Right front
Make a slip knot. Row 1 Inc2 in slip knot. 2 and all WS rows Purl. 3 K1, M1, k1, M1, k1. 5 K1, M1, k3, M1, k1. 7 K1, M1, k across less 1, M1, k1. 9-23 Continue as previous row until you have 25 sts on needles*. 25 K1, k2tog, k21, inc2. 27 K1, k2tog, k21, inc2, k1. 29 K1, k2tog, k21, inc2, k to end. 31-39 Continue as established after the inc2 until you have 36 stitches on needles. 41-103 K1, k2tog, k21, inc2, k8, ssk, k1.

I am a crocheter, i have made several tops. I have my eyes on some skirts, a lacy pair of pants, or maybe even a dress if I want to really jump in over my head. I haven’t really decided which I am going to do next.

I am still learning to knit. I have crocheted all my life. So I decided that it was time to learn how to knit. I love the challenge of something new. I have mastered crochet, now it is time to master knitting. I just hope I have enough years left. It took me 42 years on crochet and I am still learning new things. I want to be a grandmother that my grandchildren will talk about for years to come about how I was always working on something. They can’t wait till Christmas each year to see what they get next.

Love knitting baby sweaters, mostly top down, so the project goes quickly. It feels very creative as they can be adapted and varied by color and. texture. The results are so pleasing to the creator, the new mom, and all who admire the cute baby wearing the sweater. I used to make them for anyone I knew having a baby or a grandchild, until I had my own grandchildren.

I love to knit shawls. They are the perfect accessory. There are so many options: lace, solid, beaded, variegated, light yarn, heavier yarn for warmer shawls. They knit faster than clothing and don’t take as much yarn. No re-sizing problems or complicated alterations necessary and they make great gifts as well.

Not only do I enjoy the challenge of creating a larger project, but I love the fact that I have a larger “canvas” to be creative with.
