Welcome crocheters, step into my time machine. I thought it might be nice to take a little trip back in time to get vintage patterns your mother or grandmother fawned over. As a bit of a vintage fanatic, I knew that it would be too overwhelming if I didn’t focus in on a specific time period.
So today we’re going back to 3 of my favorite decades: the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s. I’m head over heels for this time frame. From the movies (Singing in the Rain, Casablanca, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, I could go on and on) to the clothes (Sweater sets? Yes, please!), I just love this time period.
While we may not be able to actually go back in time (I’ve checked), we can at least crochet our way through time. We could start with something like the Victoriana Rose Wreath Afghan, which is stunning and perfect for any home that’s a little more traditional.
We could then move on to the Honeycomb Afghan, a personal favorite of mine, and end with something Hi-Fi Companions Afghan, which reminds me of small beaded strands of sea glass. What are we waiting for? Let’s get crocheting!

Love the 40’s
Love all the vintage patterns, but would be nice to see something other than just afghans…
I like the ’60s because that’s when I started crocheting.
I am looking for a pattern of a small doll that was bendable because it had pipe cleaner inside the crochet body. also pieces of clothing were included with the
pattern. This was in an Annie’s Attic magazine in the 70’s or 80’s. I made and now would like to do for my grand daughter. Thank you for any help in finding it for me. wanda rice
I am looking for the crochet instructions on a doll, “Tammy Sue”. I made one in the 80’s and gave it away. Now I am in need of one for my granddaughter. I had a subscribtion for Annies Attic in the 70′ and 80′ but gave all my books away.
Clicked on your wigwam pattern and there is no pattern?????
In the 70’s my Mother-in-law gave me a book to make a long sweater made of Aunt Lydia’s rug yarn. it was crocheted in verterical and had a hood I made them for my daughters. but lost all my books and would love to find that pattern.
I too really like the oldies as i leant to crochet in 60s is there a simplier way to crochet ladies gloves or can use a mm ore finer thread
