The leaves are already starting to fall outside of my window and we all know what that means. Autumn is around the corner. Yes! Tomorrow is actually the first day of Autumn. Perhaps this is a sign that it’s time to start crocheting and knitting for this new season. I can’t think of a better way than to start with some beautiful leaf themed projects.
One of the best ways to create an autumn feeling in your home is to crochet or knit an afghan. Okay, I may be a little biased, but crochet afghans with leaves are some of my favorite. I love nature, I love fall, and I love crocheting afghans. Putting all of these wonderful things into one crocheted afghan just makes me smile. Make one of these patterns and you’ll understand why leaf inspired afghans are the best.

Autumn DIY Home Decor with Leaves
There are of course plenty of ways to crochet and knit smaller items for your home. Add a Harvest Bowl to your coffee table or even an Autumn Leaves Wreath to your door for some easy home decor. Just a touch of crocheting here and there in your home can make a world of a difference and it’s not over-the-top either. Plus, many of these free patterns make great gifts for family during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Leafy Scarves to Make
I gotta love scarves. I’ve been on a scarf kick for the past few weeks and I just love making scarves for family and friends. Now that I’ve seen some of these patterns though, I think I’ll have to give them a try! I especially love the Fall Leaf Cowl Scarf since it is accented with just a few crocheted leaves. These free patterns are great for autumn.

Individual Knit and Crochet Leaves
Okay, there are a lot of leafy patterns in this collection. But maybe you have a really cute scarf that you made and now you want to add a leaf to spruce it up for the season. Never fear! These individual leaves are perfect for just about anything you can think of. Attach pins to the back to put them on articles of clothing or scarves. You can even connect them with yarn to make a simple garland over your fireplace. Scatter the leaves in the middle of your Thanksgiving table this year (and let the kids keep one after dinner is done). See? So many amazing reasons to fall in love with leaf patterns!
