Can you believe school is starting already? My sisters are back to school shopping and preparing for the new year. It’s all about fresh starts and optimistic attitudes. For knitters out there, it’s not too late to knit up some pencil cases for your kids or a cardigan for yourself. So put your thinking cap on, as my kindergarten teacher used to say, and use these free knitting patterns to your advantage.
Pencil Case Knitting Patterns
I lose pencils. All the time. When I was younger, I would get pretty upset when my favorite glittery pencil disappeared. Now I only wish I had one of these nifty knitted pencil cases to store all my writing utensils. They are just so handy to throw in your backpack at the end of the day. Plus, you won’t have to scrounge around the depths of your backpack to find a pencil at the very bottom.

Knitting Patterns for Backpacks
Speaking of backpacks, here are two very fun alternatives to the plain old backpack. Start anew with the Entrelac Messenger bag. I can guarantee you will be complimented. You have been warned.
Knitting Patterns for the First Day Back to School
Weather is up in the air when it comes to the first few weeks of school. So I picked a light poncho and a cardigan for the end of summer weather. Girls love the Butterfly Poncho, and you can be rest assured that no one else will have the same back-to-school outfit.
Cardigan Knitting Patterns
Teachers, I didn’t forget about you! Here are 3 very comfortable cardigans that will make you smile. The Cranberry Lace Cardigan would look great with a dress and is lightweight. Your fellow teachers will all wonder where you got such a cute cardigan.

I have looked and looked but cannot find any children’s school uniform knitted cardigans with pockets, I am sure there must be hundreds of mums and grandmas out there, also looking for a nice pattern in double knotting. Is it just an English thing our do kids wear school uniforms Stateside.
