As usual, I will continuously say that I am a beginner when it comes to crochet. Without having much free time, I am not able to experiment with new crochet stitches or projects. Of course when I come across a pattern that I truly want to try I will have at it! With that said, a great pattern for those just learning to crochet is a scarf. My very first project, along with many others to follow, were all scarves. Scarves are a great way to try different stitches and designs as they can be worked up fairly quickly.
A new pattern just added to the site is the Purple Maureen Scarf. This is an easy crochet pattern that’s great for beginners. Baby Alpaca Yarn is used making this a nice, light scarf. The double crochet stitch is used allowing you to work it up quickly. I personally think this scarf would be a great holiday gift for just about anyone you know. Use more masculine colors for the men in your life and feminine colors for the lovely ladies.
Do you plan on crocheting this scarf for yourself or a gift?

I would like to make several for friends for Christmas. The pattern looks easy, hope I can get it through since I’m 70 years old and have a hard time following directions. I used to crochet a long time ago, but I always followed diagrams. Thank you.
