Did you know most birthdays are during the summer months? It’s easy to find crochet patterns for girls’ birthday gifts, with headbands, bags, scarves and more to choose from. But what about the birthday boys? Won’t anyone think of the birthday boys?
Well, boys like comfort just as much as girls do, and nothing’s as comfortable as a handmade afghan from mom or grandma! The best part is the blankie can easily become an heirloom for the next generation.
Your pals at AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns.com have gathered boyish baby blanket afghan patterns so you can make something special for your little man.
Cute Baby Blanket Afghans
Let’s start with more traditional baby blankets with adorable patterns like stars, stripes, and sailboats. These patterns are ideal as heirlooms, because they’ll never go out of style.
Pop Culture Baby Blankets
If you want to avoid the usual “blue is for boys” theme, you could gift your little gonzo a pop culture themed blanket. Try a modern classic like Mario, or a new favorite like Harry Potter!

With the sudden influx of baby boys in my family, this article came right on time. It always seems so difficult to find the perfect patterns and items geared toward boys. Even the “baby yarn” aisle holds more pinks and yellows than blues and greens. I’m not quite ready to start dishing out the afghans, but those little granny squares are perfect. Not to mention, they’re ideal pieces for a beginner like me. I’ve definitely got a nephew who’d love the Iron Man one!
