Our son is going on his first solo date with his girlfriend this year on Valentine’s Day, and he is giving her the same thing with the story behind it. They hold a special place in our hearts.

I really do NOT like marichino cherries but I LOVE chocolate covered cherry goo. When I get a box of chocolate covered cherries, I get a toothpick out with it. I bite a hole in the covering, fish out the cherry with the toothpick, put the cherry back in box then eat the remaining chocolate covered cherry goo. Yummmo. However to my chagrin no one will share my box of candies. So you can imagine my delight to find Hershey’s burgundy & black striped wrapped cordial cherries. Life is great with chocolate.

Because they are pretty expensive, my mom would only eat one piece every now and then to savor it. I remember one year my dad bought a tiny box for me and my older sister for Valentine’s Day when we were little, saying ” Will you be my Valentine too?”. Best dad ever 🙂

My Husband and I, married 30 years this June, have had a tradition since we were dating that we celebrate Valentine’s Day the day after!.. Then he would go out and find the biggest and fanciest “leftover” heart box of chocolates he could find at usually half off or more!!! So my favorite Valentine’s Candy is and alway has been the box of chocolates my husband gives me on our Valentine’s Day.. February 15th. 🙂

I am not a candy person. When it comes to Valentines Day what sticks out most is white chocolate chip cookies, without the macadamia nuts. When i was a child, my daddy used to always send me a box, from a “secret admirer” and to this day i still remember. It meant so very much to me, and every time i have them, i think about my daddy and how much i miss him.

I would be happy to have any Valentine’s day candy! My husband and I have 3 kids under 6 so any extra money we have goes to them. We try to get each other cards but even if we don’t we take a moment to acknowledge how much we love each other and our family. We know how lucky we are and we are thankful everyday to have each other 🙂
