I would say so far my favorite holiday it’s Halloween. I’ve been in the US a year so far. And the only holiday that I really enjoyed its halloween. You can be someone else for a night. Dress up in crazy clothes that on a normal day you wouldn’t dare to wear. Crazy hair colors. The only night were you can express yourself without being judge of what you are wearing or how much make up you put on!it’s awesome!!

I love Christmas because it’s the time of the year when we get to see the love that people have for one another… It’s the one time that we get to truly see how great humans really can be. The time of year when strangers get together to help others. Christmas, is by far the best holiday 🙂

I would have to say it is Christmas. I love making special things to give as presents for the people that I care about. It is so much fun to watch their faces when they open a home made gift from me, especially when they reply “You made this”. I love the Christmas lights, the holiday music, the festive foods and all the traditions that go with Christmas. But most of all, I love the fact that my family gets together and makes more memories.

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. The smell of the house as the meal is cooking, the sound of my grandchildren playing and my kids as the tease each other and the stories they tell. My husband was diagonsised with stage 4 brain cancer and was unable to do the things that he normal could do with ease so the kids and grandchildren got together on the special holiday and made the house ready for the winter. I make hat, stocking, and mittens for the grandchildren and give them as they usually spend Chritmas at home. This was a very special holiday as the family got to spend time together that we will cherish forever.

We spend the day cooking together. Each family has a family favorite that they make and contribute. It is a fun wonderful family get together.

Christmas is my favorite holiday because my parents always made it special, even when the money for presents was short. One year when I was about 7 or 8, my Mother sewed a whole wardrobe of clothes for my Terri Lee doll – – all by hand because she didn’t have a sewing machine. I’m 71 and I still have the doll and the clothes. I try to make Christmas fun and exciting for our kids and grandkids now!

I always share old memories about when I was a kid with my grandkids, they think its so funny to hear about when I was a kid. Don’t forget Polar Express! What a wonderful movie! I love looking at each one and remembering where my family was living and the people I was close to at the time. Then I put them on the tree, one by one, and enjoy all of these treasures for the season.

My favorite holiday is Christmas. I had to ask my husband about this because Thanksgiving is a real close second. This year Christmas is special because i spent the past year in the hospital trying to find out what was wrong with me. Thankfully the condition has been caught at the early stages and I am responding to treatment- it is a rare condition that is normally not found until the later stages. It is not a cancer, thankfully. Husband says Christmas is where my “yarn” work shines. Gifts, decorations, and whatever else you can do with yarn has been done in the 35 years we have been married. He has come to expect something handmade from me and is disappointed if there isn’t anything there.

Christmas is a favorite holiday with our family. It is a perfect time to share the blessings God has given us. We enjoy planning secret surprises for some in our community who are sometimes overlooked. Yes, it will include a needy family, but also the man or woman who may not be financially needy, but are alone and need to know someone remembers them and appreciates them. Or someone who may have family, but who need a special encouragement.

Christmas and Thanksgiving close behind. They are the holidays where everything stops for a day and I get to look around at this amazing life I have with my beautiful family. Every year we sing and dance as we cook (seriously we do!), snuggle together as we play games, watch the parade or watching the big game of the day. It’s peaceful and rewarding. Since are daughters are all in their 20’s this year and on their own we decided to go with a more traditional old fashioned Christmas. We are having a “homemade” Christmas. One gift to each person that is a homemade gift. I thought it would be easy but finding that one perfect personal gift has proved challenging. 3 down and 2 to go! Happy holidays!

After all the flurry of preparation, the quietness of the night is a gentle reminder of what the Season is (should be) all about. Peaceful, hopeful, serene. The promise of new life, new beginnings, and the excitement and anticipation of sharing little carefully planned treasures with friends and family……………………in my case, most of which were being worked on in the Summer months! So for me each holiday is somewhere different with loved ones!! Having grandchildren make the holidays even more fun!!

I love the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas- not just the holidays but all the crafting in between- trying to get Christmas knitting and crochet projects done in time, wrapped, mailed, the tree decorated and the goodies baked! I love Christmas Mass, but I also love Thanksgiving dinner, family and friends around, watching football and the smells of home cooking! Okay, now you have got me longing for the holidays to get here! Must go craft now!!!!

Christmas is my favorite holiday. First because it represents Jesus birth. Secondly, because of time together as a family, the decorations, food. It is a joy to see, even grown children opening gifts, still some homemade. I have a crocheted angel tree topper that reflects the announcement of Jesus birth as well as serves as a reminder of my love for crocheting.

Christmas! I love the gift of giving more than getting. The look on other peoples faces when they open gifts is so rewarding. Regardless of the price, shape or size of the gift, they are always full of joy. I am not one to expect a ton of gifts as I would rather share with the ones around me or support a family who cannot enjoy Christmas as much as everyone else. Getting someone that perfect gift or just something to make them smile is what it’s all about. Spending the time with family and friends is the only gift needed!

My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. My husband’s parents (whom I adore) and his sister and her husband come to town from New Mexico and Florida, respectively! It’s the one time of year we see his sister and her husband, and it’s the only time each year that we’re all together. Then my mom is here, and we usually see my brother and his family!

It’s one of the very few holidays that aren’t about gifts or money or anything, it’s just about having a good meal with the people you love, and being thankful for everything you have! (I also don’t go Black Friday shopping, because just one day prior everyone was thankful for what they had, but come Friday, people will shove and hit to get the newest *whatever* it is they “need.” I stay home, visit more with family, and have leftover turkey sandwiches!)

My favorite holiday is Christmas. For me it’s the giving. Don’t get me wrong I love getting but giving is from the heart. I was doing my weekly shopping last year close to Christmas and at the checkout stand this little girl walked up to me and handed me a gift card and said “Merry Christmas”. The innocence of the giving was awesome and it brought tears to my eyes. This is what I believe it’s all about.

Along with the rest, my favorite holiday is Christmas. My grown children, my 12 year old son, and my grandchildren all know that I still believe in Santa. The light I see in the eyes of the little ones as they open gifts and the smiles on their sweet faces, the excitement causing their little bodies to tremble is all the presents I will ever need or want. The spirit of Santa is very much alive in our home.

Being able to be with family and loved ones always makes my heart smile. Especially since my kids are all grown and gone with kids & grand kids of their own now. But if I have to pick one it would be Christmas. Watching the excitement of all the little ones is just so heart warming. Plus I love all the beautiful lights and greenery. My absolute favorite holiday is Christmas. I love to give gifts, especially homemade gifts. I love the look on each persons face when they open up their own personalized gift that I made for each of them. To me there is no better gift than a homemade one. Even the kids seem to really enjoy the crocheted gifts that I make. I try to make it something different each year and I haven’t had a complaint yet. I have had a couple of requests though!

One the best thing about crocheting all of my Christmas gifts is that I don’t have to go out on any of those crazy shopping days! The other thing…I get to work on them all year long so when Christmas time comes, I’m usually done or close to done so I don’t have the holiday stress. That comes when I make my Christmas Candy!

CHRISTMAS is my favorite holiday. I love to decorate my home which begins the weekend after Thanksgiving and then it all comes down after the Feast of the Epiphany in early January. Over the years the decorations have changed as our children grew and moved on in their lives, but Christmas is still the favorite season in our home. I love planning the decorating, planning which Christmas cookies to make with aromas that fill the house, and then shopping and wrapping Christmas presents. Christmas dinner is also a huge part of the celebration when everyone comes and we are able to spend time enjoying each others company.

Fourth of July…not for the fireworks and cookouts, although they are nice, but because of what it means for all of us. That we live in the greatest country in the world with the freedoms that we have. After that are Memorial Day and Veterans Day….God bless our soldiers! I also love Easter and Christmas, as they help us to remember and celebrate the love of God and gift of salvation.

My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas. A few years ago, when I was battling breast cancer and my two youngest kids were teenagers, they worked so hard to keep our usual family Christmas traditions (making fudge & cookies, putting up the decorations, stringing popcorn for the tree, etc.) because we were trying to have as normal of a life as possible. Since then, they make sure (as does my oldest child and her little boy) to be home as much as possible in early December as we start the annual traditions. My father passed away after an extended illness last year and my youngest called to tell me she was bringing Grandma up the first weekend in December so we couldn’t put up the tree until then. I know that regardless of what happens my kids feel a strong family bond that will continue long after I am gone!

The winter holiday (be it Christmas, Yule, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus…) is great fun – picking out what to make for friends and family & get togethers for celebrating. It’s also the lead in to what’s become a tradition in our family – a week spent with friends at the beach, relaxing and knitting/crafting/quilting/reading/chatting.

I love to cook and I’m starting to hand the reins down to my girls (14 and 13). I’ve also handed the crochet reins down to them. This is a craft that my mother taught me and I love that my daughters love it also. We sometimes hold family crochet night and just sit and work on projects. Nights like these are my favorite, not only are we working on projects together but just the warm family time is the best.

Now, I have made them for friends, for newlyweds, new babies… I really enjoy the tradition of Christmas stocking. I have probably made hundreds, as I also make mini ones for gift cards or for the tree. I am making one for a new great-niece. I have always used Red Heart yarn. It’s durability has lasted for years! Thanks!

Christmas is the holiday favored in our home. Loving all nature, a fresh Christmas Tree brought early on, fills the rooms with pine scent and fresher air. Creating a new ambience each holiday season tends to help, with recycling old energy and items – making room for green and red decorations, all colors and sparkles in between; Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years celebrations.

Sharing home made craft as gifts, buying special items, is inspirational, long ahead of the actual wrapping and designating gifts for specific folks. I love the newness of each season, with added decorations, giving away earlier or older decorations – keeping in mind the reason of the holiday is “remembering” others; in generosity, genuine human kindness, sharing of time – being at ones best. Also dressing up and keeping a positive attitude goes along with the energy of a special “time out” of the usual and mundane.

Mostly I love the special anticipation of children, whether from homes of prosperity or poverty, as youngness knows no limits in hope or happiness. The abundance of festival food – visits from cherished, yet unexpected folks – surprises each day, have brought many a fond remembrance and special gratitude for Christmas, actually.

For me, Christmas is the state of being real – loving the spirit, mind, body in a lucid manner, rather than just the body being the total realm. Believing holidays are like calendars in our mind’s eye; we have markers of important junctures – fulfillment or loss – holidays are times of collective celebration in individual and personal lives.

    Thank you.

Again, Thank you for asking, hope you enjoy this day.

Thanksgiving! Growing up in a large family was great but hectic. Thanksgiving was the time we got together with all our relatives and just enjoyed being together. So many Thanksgivings were spent with relatives we only saw once a year… it was a special time! All my siblings have grown up and have families of their own, my mother has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t remember who we are and we just don’t spend time together like that anymore. I miss those Thanksgivings!
