I am very new to crochet, right now all I can do is single, double, and half double stitches.

I really want to learn the shell stitch because it seems to be used in a lot of garment patterns, and it adds some neat texture to the piece.

What I would really like though is to learn how to read patterns better! The shorthand is very daunting to a newbie!

Like a lot of those above, I’d like to learn Tunisian crochet–I think it’s what used to be called afghan stitch because that’s what it was used to make–I don’t have the hook for it… ^_^

My Grandma taught me how to crochet when I was around 10 yrs old but she never taught me any of the names of the stitches. And half the ones she showed me, I think she made up on her own, lol. I try to learn a couple new stitches a year & then I practice, practice & practice some more! Winning this would be fantastic!

I would love to learn the cable stitch, and to be more consistant with the stitches I am learning now. As a beginner, I know that practice, practice, practice makes perfect, but usually when I think of the perfect occasion for a handmade item, it’s less than 2 weeks ahead of time, so then there’s not enough time and I get discouraged.

One of my goals for the year is to learn a stitch called the Catherine Wheel. I think there are other names for it too. It’s really pretty and looks complicated, but I definitely want to learn it. I also want to learn which yarns go best with which stitches. There have been a few times where I learned after the fact that a variegated yarn or a self striping yarn look weird in a certain stitch. I want to get better at identifying that too!

So, my personal stitch challenge for 2013 is knitting!

I love to crochet, anything an everything, but recently I’ve begun incorporating crochet into jewelry designs with other materials! It’s very retro-chic!

I’d love to win this bundle and make all sorts of beautiful bobbles!
