Adorable Crocheted Baby Gifts!

April 23, 2012 by AllFreeCrochet 27 Comments

Because I’m expecting my first bundle of joy (and it seems like there are a lot of woman on the same page as me right now), all I have on the brain is baby this and baby that. I’m starting to get a little too anxious for this little one to come. I’m just past the half way mark so I still have plenty of time. We already have the nursery furniture and the room painted, so we have a great head start!

My husband is driving me insane because he really wants to find out the gender of the baby, but I put my foot down on that one. I think it’ll be more special to find out when the baby actually arrives. Although, truth be told, I’m getting a little curious myself. I would LOVE to start crocheting some gender specific items if I knew what we were having. I’ve created a new baby board on Pinterest and I just fell in love with everything! I know there are neutral items I can make, but how adorable would floral sandals look on a little girl?

And with my shower only being a few months away, we’ve already started to register for all the necessities. Man, are there a ton of things a little baby needs…and that’s only for the first few years! I really like the idea of a thumbprint family tree that I’m hoping to put together once baby arrives. My all time favorite for a baby shower though, is the diaper cake! Now I know this isn’t a crochet pattern, but my husband and father n law are into motorcycles and Harley’s. How cute would this be?

Let’s not forget there are a TON of baby crochet patterns on AllFreeCrochet! Pretty much any baby crochet pattern can be given as a gift. You can make anything from clothing items to booties to toys and blankets. And we have them all!

Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Sweet Princess Cocoon-ghan
  2. Basic Headband for Baby
  3. Baby Hat with Pom Poms
  4. Animal Pillows
  5. Baby Soft Sheep Toy

What’s your favorite crocheted baby gift to give?

My absolute favorite crochet baby item to give are blankets. They are so versatile and are always needed.

I’ll probably be the most boring respondant, but I’ve only done one baby gift, and that was a blanket, just one large granny square. The crowd I hang with doesn’t seem to reproduce much.

I enjoy making baby blankets and either a matching shawl or matching “mommy” sized blanket. The shaws and/or big blankets come in handy for those late night hours we’ve all experienced with our children.

I think my favorite so far is a Poncho baby set with floppy hat (for a girl). It’s always a hit at baby showers! Sweaters for a boy.

I started crocheting edges on store bought recieving blankets 34 years ago when I was expecting my 3rd child. I made up my own patterns, and named each new pattern after one of the babies. Now it seems I see them everywhere. I missed a few in between, but since 1993, I’ve crocheted blankets for at least 36 babies, and I usually gift four or more. I really enjoy this and the girls always say I was hoping you’d make me some, or I’ve kept all the others.

I am 40 and still have the baby blanket that my great-aunt made for my mother when I was born. She then taught me how to crochet when I was about 8. My great-grandmother made a lovely blanket for my son, who was the first 5th generation grandson and named after my great-gandfather. I love to give blankets, too. I think every child should have something that someone hand-made just for them! These have always been aprreciated when I have given them, and many gals have said they don’t know anyone, or don’t have a grandmother, etc. that crochets/knits, so they are very happy to have gotten mine.

I love anything baby oriented ~ my favorite is blankets as they tend to be kept forever & I have made several both knit & crochet.

You know, most things for babies are not in the “need to have” category, but rather “I’d like to have” one. Rethink what you have on your list, consider reducing some & start a college fund with what you save! Long enduring items may be the exception ~ & don’t be shy to use community services such as free carseats so you can have one for each vehicle.

    Mostly, enjoy the new arrival!

I have been crocheting since I was 8 yrs old. And love to crochet baby things. However, your things on this website are ugly and old fashion I would not crochet them for my dog. You need to put some better patterns on the site or the site will just fall a part.
These same patterns have been on this sight since I started crocheting at age 8. Now that is pretty bad if I should say so for myself. Get some new patterns please!!!

Blankets are my favorite and I make them large enough for both mom and baby while nursing or rocking; then I switch to toys and then I find new things to crochet like adorable flip-flops and sandals! What isn’t my fav to crochet?

I’ve just recently welcomed my 7th grandchild and 1st greatgrandchild. I love making baby gifts. I have made blankets, sweater sets, and also a christening gown with hat, booties and blanket for one of my grandsons.

I made a hand quilted, tricot baby blanket for each of my 5 grand children. I just finished a crocheted blanket and a quilted one for my first great granddaughter who is due next month. I love making booties. I have a pattern for Mary Jane booties that are so cute for little girls and one for sneakers for boys. Both are fun to knit.

I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours nowadays, yet I by no means found any fascinating article like yours. It’s beautiful
price enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made just right content material as you did, the internet will likely be much more helpful than ever
    before.

Hi there! I understand this is somewhat off-topic however
I needed to ask. Does operating a well-established blog such as yours require a large amount
of work? I’m completely new to writing a blog however I do write in my journal on a daily basis. I’d like to start a blog so I will be able to
share my experience and thoughts online. Please let me know if you have any kind of recommendations or tips for new aspiring blog owners.
    Appreciate it!
