Because we’re constantly adding crochet patterns and tutorials to AllFreeCrochet, it’s only fair that we share them with you here, too. Recently a super easy pattern was submitted to us for a crochet hook case. Now I don’t know about you, but I feel hook cases are very necessary for every crocheter to have. Cases are the perfect way to keep your hooks organized and in one place. I used to have them loose in a bag and it was just impossible to find the right size when I needed it. I always ended up dumping all the yarn and supplies out in order to find that one special hook.
Of course there are many cases to choose from including the store bought plastic containers, but why not make your own since you’re a crocheter? That’s half the fun! This video tutorial will help you make an easy crochet hook case that holds up to four hooks unless you continue with the pattern to make it bigger.
Will you be making this hook case this weekend?

Pretty cool how you make the hook pockets by making separate rows using the front and back loops separately. Won’t be making this weekend, but I’ll definitely be making one at some point, Great idea.
No, if I want to crochet one, I have an out of print pattern that holds LOTS more hooks, folds to a compact size, has a covered button closure and a crocheted flower on it. It looks like a ladies’ clutch purse. Inside it has storage for hooks as well as pockets for scissors & tape measure and a place for yarn needles.
But, I tend to keep my hooks (short and long flexible ones) in a plastic picnic utensil carrier. The long side (for napkins) holds all the flexible afghan hooks and the 3 compartments on the other side (for knives, forks and spoons) hold my steel, plastic and aluminum short hooks. With the handle in the middle I can just grab and go! Cost $1.19 at Goodwill Thrift Store. My longer crochet hooks (10 & 14 inch) I store in a pretty pink flower vase along with my rulers.
I would love your pattern for LOTS more hook storage! Is that possible? Contact me at amyshowalter71atgmail(dot)com
Thc!
Hi Char55 If you would share your pattern for the crochet hook case, I’d sure like to have it. I need to make one to carry along with my crochet-to-go tote. Also, what a great creative idea using the utensil carrier for around the house.
Thank you,
Amy
