Easy Mother’s Day Knits

May 2, 2016 by Hannah Hynes-Petty

Mother’s Day is fast approaching for many of us around the world (it’s the second Sunday of May, if you don’t know!). What is a better gift for Mom than a knit? Luckily, we still have a few weeks to get our knitting in! Here is a collection of some of my favorite easy knits, certain to be fun to make and to give.

socks

First up, how about a pair of socks? Socks are the perfect gift for mom since they can be personalized through color and design, and they’re a relatively quick knit. Socks are accessible for all levels of knitting experience!

  • These socks would be cozy for colder nights
  • These beautiful socks have hearts on them!
  • A fun, easy design
  • A classic pair of every-day socks

cowl

Cowls are excellent for unpredictable Spring weather. They’re so snug for blustery days, or chilly mornings, while not as bulky as a scarf. Here are a few favorites —

  • A  colorful cowl
  • A lacey cowl
  • An elegantly minimalist cowl
  • Or a basic, beautiful cowl

hat

A hat for Spring is always nice! Spring hats can be so fun, with pretty lace and lightweight yarn. Or, you can opt for heavier yarn to make a truly cozy hat.

  • A swirly hat
  • A marled hat
  • A hat with leaves!
  • A lacey hat
  • A beret

mitts

Fingerless Gloves are wonderful for driving, running errands, working in the garden, and so forth. They knit up in no time and can be made thick or lightweight.

  • Winding cables traverse these mitts
  • Lovely textured mitts
  • Simply stunning mitts
  • Colorful Noro mitts

shawls

And for those of us who are just a little bit more ambitious… here are some lovely shawls that are 450 yds or less.

  • A beautiful, float-y shawl
  • One of my favorite shawls ever!
  • Lovely crescent shawl
  • A shawl perfect for variegated yarn

What will you knit your mom for Mother’s Day?
