I stay warm in winter by crocheting for friends and family – working an afghan, I get to cover up with it until it’s complete and I have to give it away.

I wear a vest it keeps the heart warm and a warm heart helps keep the rest of the body warm. It is true. That’s why you don’t hurry to warm a frost bite victim’s limbs warm first you warm the heart. So to keep my heart warm this year I knitted a vest!

I Stay warm in the winter by staying inside and keeping busy with various craft projects…be it making my little girl bows for her hair, crocheting cowls/scarves or working on my photography (I do portrait work and shoot weddings.) That of course is when I am home not working my full time job.

I have a scarf that my mom crocheted for me that keeps me nice and cozy! I can remember being a little girl and her first scarf that she made for me was long enough to wrap around me 4 times!!! I also have a bobble hat that I knit myself so it actually covers my ears!

Layers. I live in a warm area, so it may be cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon.
How do I stay warm in the winter? Well to be honest I live in a climate that is warm and most of the year I wear shorts. But when it is ‘ chilly’ we have had a frost. From December to February I like to have an Afghan or a throw to work on in the early mornings or late evenings to keep my legs warm. I wear a crocheted poncho that I made, on cool days. And on cool rainy days I even pull out one of my many hats I have made. Stay warm.
It does get chilly here at times in SoCal. I like to warm up with flannel pj’s, hot tea and knitting my woolen throw.

I recently moved to a cold climate, so I’m still learning how to dress for COLD weather, but I can finally enjoy all my handknits — socks, scarves, mittens, sweaters, and light shawls while sitting at the computer.
I am a home body in the cold weather,so I curl up in my big comfortable chair with my knitting. If I have to go out I use all the great stuff I have made to keep the cold out.

My furnace died 2 years ago, and being un/under-employed for a long time, I have been unable to repair it. Fortunately, my home is well-insulated. I have a space heater and wear layers; on all but the very coldest days, I am comfortable.
I always have the wood stove going and watching television, While working on afghan’s for next year’s christmas gift’s for eveyone.

I keep warm at night in New England by wearing my hoodie footie pajamas and knitting under my Great American Afgan that I knitted a few years ago. During the day its thermals underneath and a fleecy sweatshirt over my regular shirts.

If I am inside, I microwave a few rice bags ( small flannel bags filled w/ uncooked rice) and then cozy up in a chair and either read or knit. Outside I use hot hands, they have body warmers, foot warmers and I use them all. Pretty much a little warmth goes a long way towards comfort.

Exercising outside to get my heart rate up and break a sweat (whether its running, snowshoeing, hiking, anything!)..once you get inside, it certainly feels a lot warmer than before! Following up with a nice hot shower and flannel PJs and slippers, I then curl up on the couch in front of a nice fire underneath a fuzzy handknit blanket, complete with dogs at my feet and my latest knitting project in hand! Cue the record player and add a cup of steaming earl grey tea to make the evening complete – warm and cozy (including heart healthy)!
I have a built in warmer right now … it’s called menopause, LOL! I haven’t worn anything more than a light sweater all winter. It does help, though, living on the west coast!

winter has been hot in los angeles this year. the only cold place is the office, where i have a little heater on my desk to keep me warm from the unnecessary office air conditioner.

I stay warm by hiding under a warm crocheted afghan and working on a pair of socks or mittens!

I have been drinking more hot coffee, had to switch to decaf in the late afternoons. Also going around like my daughter with a blanket on my shoulders. 🙂
With tea or wine at hand, under a knitted throw….Or when I’m really chilly, I get the “bed sweater” to keep me warm !

I stay warm in the winter by snuggling with my two pups while drinking hot chocolate in front of the fire!

Mittens, hat & a scarf—knitted! 100% wool is the best to stay warm outside! Otherwise it’s a fire & blankets!

I wear layers of clothing and, this winter, hand-sewed the binding on a queen-sized quilt that has taken me 5-6 yrs. to finish. Oh, and, finished several scarves. All in front of our gas fireplace,

I stay warm in the winter by layering with warm handknit mittens, scarfs, and hats and go outside to play in the snow with my five grandchildren. We also enjoy hot cocoa when we come back inside.

To keep warm in winter here in Florida, I crochet prayer shawls for Halifax Hospice of Volusia and Flagger County.
I wrap up in my knitting blankie and grab my needles, turn on my infrared heater and KNIT!!!
When going outside, I layer up. Start with an old cashmere sweater, vest, knitted wool scarf, knitted felted hat, gloves and coat. Can’t move too fast but at least I am warm. When inside, I sit in my knitting chair and enjoy the pleasure of knitting.
Knitting in my favorite LYS keeps me warm with the laughter of friends.
I love being out side in the winter. add a little snow falling and snowshoeing though the trees its a wonderful feeling. coming in after, having some hot tea, and wrapping yourself in a crocheted blanket you made, now that’s a great day!
