Forest Folk Cup Cozies

Today we have probably the cutest knitting pattern I’ve ever seen. Nothing makes me want to curl up with a hot drink like these adorable animal cup cozies! Pick your favorite forest friend and get knitting with this free pattern from Simplicity.

Knit Woodland CozySkill Level: Intermediate

SIZE: One size to fit most coffee cups

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Circumference: 7″ [17 cm]
Length: 4.75″ [12 cm]

YARN
#4 worsted weight yarn: Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool (100% wool, 8 oz [227 g], 465 yards [425 m], Color 123 Oatmeal
Approximately 1 oz [30 g], 50yds [46 m] for each cozy.
Small amount of additional yarns for embroidery – Fox: orange, white, black; Raccoon: gray, white, black, green; Owl: brown, yellow, white, black

NEEDLES
Boye® US size 6 [4mm] double pointed needles, set of 5

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS 
foxStitch markers (one of a different color to indicate beg of rnd)
Cable needle
Tapestry needle

GAUGE
With Boye® US size 6 (4mm) needles in Stockinette stitch in the round: 22 sts & 24 rnds = 4″ [10cm] *Take time to check gauge*

BO
—bind off; CO—cast on; K—knit; P—purl; pm—place marker; rep—repeat; sl—slip; sm—slip marker; st(s)—stitch(es); wyif—with yarn in front

SPECIAL STITCHES AND TECHNIQUES
owl 2/1 RC (2 over 1 right cross): Slip next 2 stitches to cable needle and hold in back, k1, k2 from cable needle

INSTRUCTIONS
CO 50 sts. Divide sts evenly among 4 needles. Join for working in the round (rnd), being careful not to twist sts; place marker for beg of rnd.
Rnds 1-4: *K3, p2; rep from * around.
Rnd 5: *2/1 RC, p2; rep from * around.
Rnds 6-8: *K3, p2; rep from * around.
Rnd 9: *2/1 RC, p2; rep from * around.
Rnd 10: (K3, p2) six times, pm, k18, pm, p2.

Rnd 11-12: (K3, p2) six times, k18, p2.
Rnd 13: (2/1 RC, p2) six times, k18, p2.
Rnds 14-20: (K3, p2) six times, k18, p2.
Rnd 21: (2/1 RC, p2) six times, k18, p2.
Rnds 22-24: (K3, p2) six times, k18, p2.
Rnd 25: *2/1 RC, p2; rep from * around.
Rnds 26-28: *K3, p2; rep from * around.
Rnd 29: *2/1 RC, p2; rep from * around.
Rnds 30-31: *K3, p2; rep from * around.

BO all stitches. Weave in ends.

Follow the chart and embroider Fox, Raccoon, or Owl with Duplicate Stitch technique by covering each knit stitch as follows: Bring the needle up below the stitch to be worked. Insert the needle under both loops one row above and pull it through. Insert it back into the stitch below and through the center of the next stitch.
