Blanket Measures: 41” x 46”
MATERIALS:
- Red Heart Super Saver: 1 skein each 0668 Honeydew, 0311 White
- Red Heart Classic: 4 skeins 0246 Sea Coral
- Crochet Hooks: 4.5 mm (US G-6), 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge
GAUGE:
6 row repeat – 3 ½”
Shell, picot – 2 ¼”
SPECIAL STITCHES:
Shell – 5 dc in space or stitch as indicated.
Picot – (sc, ch 3, sc) in space or stitch as indicated.
Fan Shell – [dc, (ch 1, dc) 4 times] in space or stitch as indicated.
NOTE: Blanket is crocheted in multiples of 7 plus 1.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Row 1 (RS): With H hook and honeydew ch 127, sc in 2nd ch from hook, skip 2 chs, Shell in next ch, skip 2 chs, *ch 3, sc in next ch, skip 2 chs, Shell in next ch, skip 2 chs, sc in next ch, repeat from * across, turn.
Row 2: Ch 6, picot in center dc of Shell, ch 3, *dc in next ch 3 space, ch 3, picot in center dc of next Shell, ch 3, repeat from * across ending ch 3, dc in last sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first dc, Shell in ch 3 space of picot, *picot in dc between Shells, Shell in ch 3 space of picot, repeat from * across ending sc in last dc, turn.
Row 4: Ch 6 and continue with Row 2, turn.
Row 5: Ch 1 and continue with Row 3, turn.
Row 6: Ch 6 and continue with Row 2, fasten off and turn.
Row 7: Join coral in first stitch, ch 1, sc in same stitch, Shell in ch 3 space of picot and continue with Row 3, turn,
COLOR SCHEME:
Continue 6 row pattern for a total of 71 rows as follows:
(6 rows coral, 6 rows white, 6 rows honey) 3 times, 6 rows coral, 5 rows white, fasten off and do not turn.
EDGING:
Round 1:With right side facing, G hook and coral work along top edge [dc, (ch 1, dc) 5 times] in right corner sc, * ch 1, sc in center dc of Shell, ch 1, Fan Shell in ch 3 space of picot, repeat from * across ending ch 1, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 5 times] in last sc.
Work along side edge ch 1, sc in first sc space, *ch 1, Fan Shell in next sc space, ch 1, sc in next sc space, repeat from * across ending ch 1, sc in last dc space.
Work along bottom edge ch 1, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 5 times] in first sc, *ch 1, sc in ch below Shell, ch 1, Fan Shell in ch 3 space, repeat from * across ending ch 1, [dc, (ch 1, dc) 5 times] in last sc.
Work along side edge ch 1, sc in first dc space, ch 1 and continue as for opposite side edge matching stitches ending ch 1, join to beginning dc.
Round 2: Work along top edge slip stitch into first ch 1 space, sc in same space, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 space) 4 times, *ch 1, picot in next sc, ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space of Fan Shell, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 space) 3 times, repeat from * across ending ch 1, sc in first corner ch 1 space, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 space) 4 times.
Work along side edge *ch 1, picot in next sc, ch 1, sc in next ch 1 space of Fan Shell, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 space) 3 times, repeat from * across. Continue pattern around entire afghan ending ch 1 join to beginning sc and fasten off.
