As we’ve found over the past few years, crocheting isn’t just for grannies anymore. Crocheting has taken a wild turn at the age of iPhones, mohawks and tattoos. I’ve heard of young crocheters starting at the age of two, which I personally think is fantastic. Learning how to crochet at such a young age is great for those who really keep up with the hobby. Some people might think though, “Am I too young for this hobby?” It was always such an “old person” hobby that people are starting to stare at young people wondering what the heck they’re doing. In a survey taken by AllFreeCrochet it was proven that 93.1% of crocheters are not embarrassed to crochet in public. Now I’ve never personally been able to crochet in public for others to see me in the act. I don’t take the train, I don’t fly very often and if I’m sitting in the doctor’s office I’m usually following around my daughter. The viewer in the video below is curious if crocheting in public is preventing her from meeting a man. She’s a single woman who crochets when she can, so she asks Steve Harvey what his opinion is. I think this is an adorable video for all crocheters to watch:
My husband often makes fun of me for crocheting and calls me a grannie. I know he’s kidding because when he sees all the finished projects he’s very impressed, which makes me smile that I have such a great talent. Whether I crochet during lunch at work or crochet in the comfort of my own home, the only thing it prevents me from doing is another important task like the dishes, or actually eating my lunch. We all know how addicting crochet is! Oh right, many times it has prevented me from sleeping…I’m pretty sure we all have that one in common. Out of 14,486 respondents from our survey, 61.7% of respondents admit they have chosen crochet over sleep at least once. And because there clearly are just not ever enough hours in the day, our readers also revealed that they to take their projects on-the-go – and are proud of it! If you’re trying to avoid those dishes, or simply need something to work up, here are some crochet patterns you might like:
