I am retired after serving in the Navy for 30 years, so I found myself with all this free time. My new hobby for the past two years has been knitting hats and scarves for Veterans, and then sending them to various Veterans associations throughout the country. In total I have made 211 hats, so I am always looking for new patterns to challenge myself. Thank you for your site, Donna

Not a fan of pompoms. I know some people really like them but I don’t. And I really hate to make them.

Also not a big fan of pom poms. I think they look cute on children but really silly on most adults. Also, they tend to get really ratty looking when washed!

I like pom poms but if they are little, they look really cool on adult womens’ hats. Too big does make them look kiddified

I’m really not good at making pompoms and think they’re OK for kids, but old fashioned for adults. However, the stuffed knitted pompoms are easy and cute.

Pompoms are OK for kids but I’m not really good on making them although, I’m a longtime knitter but they never come out the way they should.
    I love the earflap hats!

The Not too too Beret that was posted today is somewhat what I am looking for. Do you have any hat patterns that are a little more dressy. I am a beginner in knitting. I guess it depends on the yarn that is being used to make it fancier. I would like something that sits on the back of the head more. Not so much on the fore-head.Thank you

So How can I get these 7 free knit hat patterns? If I submitted this request before I apparently either lost the answer or the answer was never given to me. I am really interested in the ear-flap hat (Pattern for this) so I can knit for my grandchildren. Thank you

No pom poms unless on little hats for kids. I want to say thank you to Donna Kelly for what you do. I know the Vets appreciate your time and caring work.

Pom-poms may look cute on some hats, booties, etc., but I don’t like them.
