Free Pattern Friday: Knit Throw Pattern from Yarnspirations
MATERIALS
Bernat® Mega Bulky™ (10.5 oz/300 g; 64 yds/58 m)
Contrast A Aran (88008): 4 balls
Contrast B New Gold (88609): 2 balls
Contrast C Black (88040): 2 balls
Contrast D Purple (88334): 2 balls
Contrast E Radiant Orchid (88314): 2 balls
Size U.S. 35 (19 mm) circular knitting needle 29″ [73.5 cm] long or size needed to obtain gauge.
MEASUREMENTS
Approx 40″ x 62″ [101.5 x 157.5 cm].
GAUGE
5 sts and 7 rows = 4″ [10 cm] in stocking st.
ABBREVIATIONS
Approx = Approximately
Cont = Continue(ity)
K = Knit
K2tog = Knit next 2 stitches together
M1 = Make 1 stitch by picking up horizontal loop lying before next stitch and knitting into back of loop
Pat = Pattern
Rep = Repeat
RS = Right side
Ssk = Slip next 2 stitches knitwise one at a time. Pass them back onto left-hand needle, then knit through back loops together
St(s) = Stitch(es)
WS = Wrong side
INSTRUCTIONS
Stripe Pat
With A: 4 rows.
With B: 6 rows.
With C: 6 rows.
With D: 6 rows.
With E: 6 rows.
With A: 4 rows.
These 32 rows form Stripe Pat.
With A, cast on 54 sts. Do not join.
Working back and forth across needle in rows, proceed as follows:
Knit 3 rows (garter st), noting 1st row is WS.
Beg Stripe Pat, proceed as follows:
1st row: (RS). K3. *(ssk) twice. (K1. M1) 4 times. (K2tog) twice. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.
2nd row: K3. Purl to last 3 sts. K3.
3rd row: Knit.
4th row: K3. Purl to last 3 sts. K3.
Last 4 rows form Ripple Pat. First 4 rows of Stripe Pat are complete.
Cont in pat as established until 32 rows of Stripe Pat have been completed 3 times.
With A, knit 3 rows.
Cast off (WS).
