Well, needing to keep warm in Southern California is not something that we need to do much at all! However, when I or my family *do* need to keep warm, the kids and I usually get an afghan, my husband the scarf I knit him, and we curl up on the various pieces of furniture in our family room, sometimes with the fireplace burning! Hot tea in the pot, with say, homemade biscuits, all wrapped up in our chosen warmers, and we are all good to go!

I have a favorite shrug that I made from several yarns that always gets comments. No one notices the more somber items in your wardrobe if you splash it up with color from a scarf or shrug. And the accessorize the heck out of it. I would
Love to be able to wear something that I could
say I made myself, but in past years all my Christmas
Yarn work has been gifts for other people. This year
I decided to knit things for myself and the truly
Knitworthy of my family and friends. Cards with
money for the rest. They seem to appreciate
that and it’s way easier for me. They can go buy
Themselves some crap that goes out of fashion
or breaks in a week, but ultimately gets thrown away!

During the holidays, I am a RN in a pediatric hospital so always have something festive on, either earrings, scrub top or jacket. I like to wear things that sparkle and blink. I have scarves that I make wear and if a child wants what I have on I give it to them. At home, I decorate with knitted and crocheted ornaments that I add blinking lights and sparkles. With my husband, children and grandchildren we curl up under afghans I have made and play games, and watch holiday movies.

This lovely bit looks as if it would be just as wearable all year long; I could see it working well over rich cream or Fall, light rose in Spring, or white on white in summer’s heat where evenings can sometimes be cool and air-conditioned places are always a bit chilly.

I make a gown from a Marfy pattern for a very elegant party I attend each year, but since most gowns are sleeveless it needs some sort of wrap to make it warm enough for winter. Last year I knitted a lovely shrug in pale green and silvery blue to go with a green gown. This shawl would go with almost anything! Also, since my most common on-line name is Sparkleberry, I felt as if this shawl was just meant for me as soon as I saw the pattern.

I know everyone says scarves are the thing and that’s very true. I have spent the last several months knitting scarves, hats and fingerless gloves for all the ladies in my life; daughters. granddaughter. daughter-in-law. my hairdresser and a few men too for xmas . but I decided to knit a few for myself in between and plan on wearing these during the winter to dress up my coat. There is nothing so lovely as a homemade scarf to make a statement that you love to knit and are proud of your humble undertakings. The store bought scarves are so cheaply made and mass produced. Nothing to compare with homemade love and charm! Happy Holidays! Sharon

I have three beautiful cashmere sleeveless sweaters that go with several different jackets, sweaters, and tunic length shirts in my closet. Add my most comfy slacks for a casual look or different length skirts to suit the occasion. If I need to go out in the cold weather, I add a separate matching cowl that doubles as a hoodie.

Layers! I love a nice, lightweight sweater over a top. Add a scarf and cape or rumba and I am set for whatever our changeable weather throws at me here in California.

I like something warm and cuddly around my neck … scarf or cowl or shawl. This also will add color, bling, and texture to my basic plain outfit.

I really enjoy wearing a soft shawl or coat with my favorite pair of jeans. My crochet boot cuffs and boots. I love the cooler weather so to top it off my granny square scarf 🙂

My favorite way to dress up in the winter is wearing nice warm sweaters overtop a turtle neck shirt. I just love the feel of the yarn that sweaters are made of, and it makes me feel warm and cozy.

In the winter I love to dress in multiple layers to stay warm. Sometimes I wear 2 pairs of gloves or a pair of gloves and a pair of mittens at the same time just to keep my hands warm!
