It’s time to tie-dye! I’m going to show you a video tutorial on how to tie dye your very own yarn. That’s right, make your cotton yarn look like those awesome t-shirts you made when you were a kid. So don’t be afraid to get a little wild with these bright colors. And just think, the yarn you make using Tulip’s Tie Dye Kit will be just as bright as a Tie-Dye shirt.
Tie-Dye Tips
Whenever I work with tie-dye, I always wear gloves. But sometimes things happen and well, tie-dye can be messy. While working with tie-dye as a camp counselor, I stumbled across a solution: those Magic Eraser cleaning sponges. I remember the sponges worked wonders on skin (just be sure to wash with soapy water when you’re done).
The possibilities are endless. You can dye your yarn in rainbow order, cool colors, or warm colors, it’s up to you! Just be sure to not let orange and purple touch, unless you like brown.
So have fun! I’d love to see photos of your yarn dyeing experience. You can post your pictures to our Facebook page to inspire others to dye their own yarn too.
What do you think? Is tie-dye just for hippies?
