Although I now have a mix of a King Charles Spaniel and a Pekingese, who is painfully adorable, I still melt when I see a Bernese Mountain dog. If I had the space (and money), that would be my dog so that’s what I’m going with.

German sheoherd! Most loyal, loving and protective dogs ever! My younger sister was working on her motorcycle on day at my mom and dad’s and reprimanded my son for touching the tools. She reached out to pull his hand away and my parent’s German shepherd gently but firmly caught her arm in her mouth because she thought her little human boy was being threatened. Made my sister think twice before responding in that manner.

I have always had dogs in my life. My very favorite dogs have been my rescue dogs. They all have come into my life and brought such joy. Some were pure breds, others mutts but all of them had a secure home with your family and gave unequivocally to us. It was as if they know they have been selected and do their best each day to thank us. Right now I have a daschund/Italian greyhound mix (go figure) and a corgi/chicahua mix. They seem to beleive their job in life is to loudly let me know when anyone is near the house and the sit in my lap. They have even learned to do this with yarn and needles also in my lap. I have made sweaters for them in the past but am excited to start on a couple of these beauties in today’s post. I actually got one of them one day when I was dropping off clean sweaters from a dog we had recently lost so some other shelter dogs would be able to enjoy them.

I love all dog breeds and over the years I’ve had most of them (in mixed breed dogs). But my favorite has to be our malti-poo. He doesn’t shed like other breeds (he has continually growing hair, not fur), but does have to be brushed and groomed regularly.

I love dogs, every time I get a different breed I think it’s my favorite! I’ve had Golden Retrievers, Labradors, a Basset Hound, a Shar-Pei, Yorkie, and last but not least, my Deer Chihuahua. They all have different qualities (some a few bad habits), but they all bring joy, love and laughter into my home. I can’t resist a fur face!

Mutts, mutts, mutts and more mutts. Dogs really don’t give a hoot about what breed they or any other dog is, and that’s a lesson I wish we’d learn from them.
