How to Knit Leg Warmers + Boot Cuffs

January 23, 2014 by AllFreeKnitting 2 Comments

With the threat of another polar vortex on the horizon, my cold feet are dreaming of breezy crocheted sandals and airy flip flops on a hot, sunny day. Instead it looks like another long couple months of sturdy boots to protect my feet from the winter elements of snow, ice, and rain. Don’t get me wrong. I love boots. I love the rich leather of my riding walking boots  and the fuzzy fur on my indestructible snow boots. However, I only have a few pairs of sensible winter shoes, so sometimes I get a little bored of my options.

How to Knit Leg Warmers + Boot CuffsDIY leg warmers and knit boot cuff patterns are a great way to spice up your boots and add an extra layer of comfort and warmth. A tiny pop of color and texture peaking out from the top of your boot is a fun way to accessorize and break up an outfit. DIY boot cuffs and leg warmers are also great stashbusters. Boot toppers are short enough to finish off that last bit of spare yarn you’ve been wondering how to use.

So, if you’ve ever wondered how to knit leg warmers but have been too scared, just check out these easy knitting patterns. DIY leg warmers and knit boot cuffs are actually quite simple and offer tons of room for creative choices for color, stitch work, and design.
