Have you ever tried loom knitting?
Since they’re typically made of brightly-colored plastic, it’s easy to mistake knitting looms for a kid’s toy (although I think giving one to a child who’s old enough to knit would be a great idea!) I know I’ve probably walked past them a dozen times in the craft store and never given them a second look. But actually these little devices are a great way to make knitting projects like hats, scarves, socks, and more with very little effort! You can even make things like coasters and bracelets once you’ve mastered the technique.
How do they work, you ask? It’s actually pretty simple! First, check out our video below to see what types of knitting looms are out there and what each one is best used for. Then, scroll down for more informational articles and even some free loom knitting patterns!
Do you understand the basic concepts now? If you’d like a little more background, we have an article on loom knitting basics over on AllFreeKnitting. I’m not a big loom knitter, but I found it pretty easy to understand so I’m sure you will, too. It’s a really easy way to take your knitting on the go, since you don’t have to worry about any knitting needles poking holes in your bag. It’s also great to do while watching TV or listening to a podcast because you don’t need to think too hard about it!
