I Like Crochet Receives a Nomination for The Flamie Awards

flamie-awards [1]If you’re already counting down the days until award season, then we have some exciting news for you! After a 2-year break, The Flamies are back [1]!

I know what you might be thinking: what on earth are The Flamies? The Flaming Hook of Justice Awards (also known as The Crochet Awards) [1] are kind of like the Academy Awards of crochet. They were designed to celebrate and acknowledge the best of everything in the wonderful world of crochet including hooks, yarns, books, designers, instructors, and more.

Created by Laurie Wheeler, Founder and Fearless Leader of the Crochet Liberation Front, these coveted awards are a collective voice to show appreciation to the makers, designers, publishers, and suppliers of crochet tools and yarn.  They are voted on by the “passionate crochet community to show their pride and celebrate excellence,” according to The Crochet Awards website [1].

ILC-cover-blog [2]Sounds pretty cool, right? We think so too, and we are thrilled to announce that our new digital content magazine, [3] I Like Crochet, has been nominated! Thanks to our good friend and fellow crochet enthusiast Marie Segares, The Underground Crafter [4], for the nomination!

It’s not too late to nominate someone! If you have a favorite crochet blog, yarn company, crochet product, or designer, visit The Crochet Awards website here to nominate them. [5] There are multiple different categories to choose from, including Best Crochet Instructor, Most Crochet Friendly Yarn Company, Best Crochet Hooks (Handcrafted/Individual), Best Crochet Hook (Commercial),  Best Crochet Designer for Home Decor, Lifetime Achievement Award, and more.

See the full list here and submit your nominations [6]. There are lots of different ways to help promote the awards, as well. Find some great badges and graphics here to post on your site/blog [7], and if you’re posting about The Flamies on social media, be sure to use the  designated hashtag #crochetawards on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. and Pinterest.

Additional information about The Flamies can be found here [8], including where the name came from, who the sponsors are, and whether or not you can nominate yourself (you can!)

And, if you don’t already have a subscription to I Like Crochet [3], then what are you waiting for? It’s clearly a worthy investment if it’s being nominated for a Flamie award! Get in on the action by signing up for a subscription today [3]. Subscription options include:
