I read craft books, especially those which have crochet as the main inspiration for the story!
Sometimes my inspiration is the hobby or passion of the person for whom the gift is intended…sometimes I see crochet stitches that I want to try to incorporate into a new design…sometimes it’s a new crochet technique I want to try…and sometimes it’s a new range of colors in my favorite yarn!
Inspiration, hmmmm let’s see. I get inspiration from the pattern books on the coffee table (you do remember coffee table books right?), yarn I have in stash, the person the fo is intended for (gee, I really like the slippers you make), and finished objects & patterns others have posted online. Some days I feel like I’m bombarded with inspiration just not enough time to make everything I’d like to. 🙂
Oh My Goodness! It has to be the yarn companies. I just got two skeins of the Boutique Ribbon and I’m already on my way to two scarf’s. And, all the free, wonderful, great patterns from Stitch and Unwind, All Free Crocheting and All Free Knitting and Afghans. You guys are just fabulous. Thank you!
I love books first, because I can have them with me at all times. Second is websites. I have to pictures, I am a visual person and what to see what the pattern first.
For inspiration I’m most likely to view my favorite blogs and yarn companies. I’m finding I don’t consult books or magazines very often after I view them.
I look at magazines, assorted books from the library and free pattern sites and yarn company sites for crochet and knitting ideas and inspiration.
My inspiration for crocheting and knitting are the websites allfreecrochet, allfreeknitting, favecrafts.knittingdaily,crochetnmore. Love being on these mailing lists, everyday I receive all the creative goings on. And learn something new.
Because I am new to knitting and all things knitted, I look for simple things to knit while learning. I found several easy patterns on the underside of the yarn wrappers. 🙂
I look at craft sites and check supply stores for books, etc.
Looking at the pictures on the websites, Facebook, Yahoo Inbox emails from Free patterns, and Annie’s Attic, and Now Crochet Crowd, from Facebook.
I do a Google search for the type of article I want to make and look at the image results. I sift through the pics and find a lot of things I didn’t expect! One search always leads to more!
I check out all the yarn co. sites, free pattern sites and sites like Annies Attic.
I look at magizines, tv and in my own head. My children also have more than enough ideas for me to make for them 🙂
My inspiration comes from books, TV, the people I see on the street, the shapes that I see in nature, my memory(things seen in the past)and all the people that ask for items that I don’t currently make.
I get inspiration everywhere. I have a shelf full of crochet books and magazines; I look at clothing catalogs; and I consider the needs and likes of the recipient of my labors. I also look at various craft and crochet websites daily. There is so much inspiration and never enough time to do it all.
I see inspiration in everything–nature, industry, fashion and people.
New colors in old favorite yarns are always a plus~or new combos of old and new. Shapes and textures are everywhere. I love to crochet new and exciting things.
Pinterest is my favorite way recently.
Oh my goodness! So many places to get inspiration! From books, websites, tutorials, yarn websites, other’s work… If only there was enough time, to delve into everything I see, that, I would love to make!
I like the daily emails, they are the easiest for me to look at quickly. There never seems to be enough time.
My main inspiration for the past 9 months has been my grandson, Alester, who was born last Friday, June 8, 2012. I crocheted a Zebra blanket (the theme for the baby’s room is jungle) from a photo that I turned into a graph. Then I crocheted a hat and a pair of booties for him and a cover for the his car seat. It was terrific fun and I am sure that there will be no greater inspiration for my crochet projects, but my love for crocheting will move me forward and I will continue to crochet a variety of projects in the future.

When I see something that reminds me of someone.. I just have to make it for them.
