Lovely Layers: Learn How to Knit a Vest with 6 Easy Patterns

January 30, 2014 by AllFreeKnitting 6 Comments

With the promise of spring in the air, my knitting needles seem less like objects necessary for warmth than tools that will offer me a fresh perspective on my wardrobe. Winter will soon be a thing of the past (thank goodness), and the dewy prospect of new life will soon be upon us. Budding plants and spouting seeds aren’t the only new things to look forward to. Spring is a great time to revise and revamp your style by trying trends and pieces you wouldn’t normally gravitate toward.

Knit vests are a great place to start. Whether you’re new to these lovely layers or have a whole closet full of them, rest assured knowing that there are tons of fashionable new ways to wear this stylish accessory.

Celebs in vests

(photo credit: http://www.dealio.com/) Just look at these leading ladies sporting these chic and sleek layering pieces. Even Rihanna is rocking a fitted vest! You could be one of them!

Another great thing about knit vest patterns is that they’re not as big of a commitment as say, a knitted sweater. Not only do they use less yarn, they work well with fluctuating temperatures. Knit vests are more conducive for variable spring weather as they can be removed with ease and grace.

Not sure how to knit a vest? No worries. With these six easy tutorials, you’ll learn how to knit a vest in no time.

I would love to knit a vest for myself. It is a perfect throw on over a t-shirt and perfect for CA weather.

I would love it if they actually wrote the stupid pattern out by the stitch instead of confusing me to death with how many stitches I should have left over minus a decrease plus bide offs in a single sentence. Write the stupid pattern out so I can see where all the stupid stitches are and stop making a dumb picture grid. It just annoys me to death that I have to read all their confusing sentences and write the pattern out my self. Make it freakin easy.
