Everywhere I go I see Christmas lights and I hear Christmas music, which only makes me think about how fortunate I am to have such a great family. However, there are some out there who aren’t as fortunate. This holiday season Heidi from Hands Occupied is teaming up with a local yarn shop, Nina, and Save the Children, to help make this holiday one to remember for every child out there.
Friday, December 12 is National Christmas Sweater Day and Save the Children wants everyone to wear a sweater and donate at least $5 to help fund their work with children around the world. Because of this, Heidi wants to throw a party to celebrate sweaters, the holiday season and a great cause. To participate in this fun party all you have to do is wear your knit or crocheted sweater, wear your favorite crocheted scarf or simply wear one of your favorite sweaters of all time. A money donation of $5 would be greatly appreciated and let’s not forget about the snacks and fashion show. That’s right, whoever wants to show off their artistic knit or crochet abilities can show off their amazing sweaters. Best of all? There will be an Instagram photo booth for those who DO want to show off their designs.
If you’d like to simply donate money, you may do so. But who doesn’t like a sweater party? Share stories, make new friends and help with a great cause. Make the holidays a special one for not only the children, but for yourselves, too. Want even more excitement? Save the Children is giving away money to WEBS American’s Yarn Store as an added incentive.
