Unexpected Mason Jar Crafts

September 2, 2014 by AllFreeCrochet

Unexpected Mason Jar CraftsMost of the time when I think of mason jar crafts, I think about recycled materials, sea glass, sea shells, tissue paper and all things craft. Never once did it cross my mind that I can craft a mason jar with yarn. Yarn mason jar crafts are actually pretty neat because there are a few different ways you can decorate and use the jar. The first thing you really need to do is get a collection of jars so you have a great pile to start with. Once you have that you can take a look at your yarn stash to see what kind of leftovers you have. And don’t worry, if you don’t have any leftovers (which who are you kidding, you probably do), then you can go out and buy more yarn (because you’ll probably end up doing that anyway). Once you have your beautiful yarn colors to work with you can choose from any one of these neat mason jar crochet patterns.

Unexpected Mason Jar Crafts: Crochet Style

Mason Jar Cozy Crochet Pattern – Mason jars have a variety of different uses, so these colorful crocheted cozies can be used for practically anything including pencil holders. They are a great way to add a splash of color to your desk, too.

Mason Jar Crochet Cozy – This cozy fits snugly around your mason jar and gives just the right amount of detail to allow you to give this as a fun gift. Mason jar crafts are even more popular around the holidays because of the whole “gifts in a jar” thing.

Mason Jar Cover – This crochet jar cover even doubles as a dishcloth once you’re done using it as a cover. This is a quick and easy crochet pattern to work up that uses half double crochet and double crochet stitches.

Hemp Mason Jar Cozy – Try a completely different approach by crocheting with hemp. Fine hemp twine and a piece of ribbon really give this mason jar that rustic look. I can even imagine making many of these and using them as centerpieces at a wedding or summer party.

Crochet Jam Jar – When looking for a touch of elegance you’ll love this jam jar. Throw in a tea light candle and see a beautiful luminary appear before your eyes. This jam jar can easily be used as a centerpiece for just about any occasion.

Jar Lid Covers – Working up this crochet pattern will allow you to add the cutest flair to your jars. Fill your jars with salsa, rice, or even ingredients for a quick recipe. Show off your counter tops with a little something extra.

Wide Mouth Canning Jar Cozy – Use this jar as a travel mug and keep your hands cool when you have a hot drink. Two sets of crochet instructions are used for this pattern as you can crochet different versions.

Have you ever thought of using mason jars for crocheting?
