Today we’re getting to know crochet designer Aurora Suominen. Aurora began crocheting when she was pregnant with her first son. She started a crochet blog, One Crochet Day at a Time, to share pictures of her projects with others, but was always in awe of designers and their ability to create original patterns. After ten years of perfecting her crochet skills, her son finally urged her to try designing an original pattern, and the rest is history! Although she admits it was a struggle at first, it finally “clicked,” and she was finally able to create a pattern and write it out for others.
She has created many, many more patterns since her first square. She says it’s amazing to hear that other people are enjoying her squares and that they’re using them to make crocheted afghans. She hopes to be designing for years to come– and so do we! Check out a few of her designs below that are currently featured on AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns. She has more than 20 patterns featured on AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns, and the list keeps growing! Be sure to visit her blog for even more wonderful crochet patterns, designs, and inspiration.

I love the first one… Grace Adia Flower Square
I created one square of your pattern Around a Flower 12″ square and love it – it is so beautiful. I’m not very creative so can you tell me what projects I can make with this adding more squares of course – like throws, clothing, etc. I also look forward to using your other patterns.
Thank you.
