Sometimes crocheting can be tough. Whether you struggle with being patient or holding your hook correctly, we all have some sort of quirk when it comes to crocheting. I hold my hook way too tight and I regret it later when I end up with sore hands. How about you? Maybe your mistake was learning how to crochet in the first place! 😉 Learn from these mistakes below and share any others you may have below!
Learning to Be Patient
Stephanie I. – to just put it down and walk away for a while when i was getting frustrated by making all these mistakes. frustration only leads to even more mistakes. getting up, having a stroll elsewhere – even if only to the kitchen, taking deep breaths and forgetting while having some tea, etc. it also aids the brain in processing the information being learned
1st thing i will always EMPHASIZE to anyone I know who is learning. put it down. put it down. put it down. you will be so much happier if you just put it down and walk away for a while …….
Robin M. – There’s no crying in crochet! You can’t make mistakes except in following the pattern wrong and getting rows mixed up. That’s why crochet is so perfect. You don’t screw up a stitch – you invent a new one!
Chris C. – Not being willing to frog and start over.
Julianna S. – not stopping and calling my mother for help
Christine L. – Not relaxing my hands.
Betty C. – Making turns too tight
Jenna W. – Not sewing ends securely, A lot of my early projects washed apart.
Diana C. – not using the right hook or yarn for particular projects
Beu P. – Not having good posture not calculate the amount of yarn
Alysandra L D. – Over doing it. As in not taking a break when I should have an messing up my wrists
Mary D. – I still don’t like swatching.
Wanda M. – Holding the hook the way I do. It puts too much pressure on my thumb.
Lynn M. – I taught myself to crochet, and I do it backwards. I crochet front to back, I’ve been doing wrong for over 40 years. Help!!!
Jennifer Z. – I keep bypassing patterns with a magic circle, I really need to just learn it
Roni S. – my biggest mistake was learning in the first place! Now I can’t stop I keep going and going and going lol
Sandi K. – Not accepting compliments on my work. And lacking self esteem
Susan S. – Asking my hubby how big he wanted his blanket!! He wanted me to use 14 skeins !! Oy vay!!!
Jennifer J. – Telling people I learned how to crochet. Now they want gifts.
Heidi G. not learning sooner
Libby S. – I would love to see crochet disaster pics..I never took pics of my bad projects..but it would be interesting..and that way others can comment about what we did wrong which I’m sure will make us all better and what we love to do.
