I know I’ve already talked a little bit about The National Needlearts Association winter show that Nicola and I attended last weekend, but there were so many incredible things there that it’s impossible to fit it all into one post! Side note: If you haven’t already, make sure to check out Nicola’s coverage of the handmade crocheted coral reef. It’s positively stunning.
That brings me to today’s topic: new products. From flashy new yarns to exciting knitting and crochet gadgets, we’ve got the scoop on what’s new from all the hottest, most popular, yarn companies and designers. Ready for a little peek?
New Yarn Products from TNNA
Immediately when we walked into the Long Beach Convention center, the lovely place where TNNA was held, we were greeted with a long fence of BRAND NEW products from the various yarn companies at the show. Let me just say, we had a hard time not just pulling the yarn off the displays and booking it to the nearest airport. It was that beautiful. But since that behavior probably would have gotten us banned from the show, we opted for the much safer route: taking pictures of the pretty yarn and blogging about it.
There were many different products featured, but here are a few of my favorites.
Great Adirondack Yarn Company: This striking yarn above is from a new line called Cadence. My favorite is the skein in the middle; don’t the colors remind you of candy?
Freia Yarns: This delicious yarn looks good enough to eat. With so many attractive color ways to choose from, you’ll be able to create tons of vibrant projects suitable for both spring and summer.
Knit Collage Yarn: This was one of the most unique yarns at the show. If you look closely, you’ll see the tiny flowers and bits of lace mixed in. Isn’t it beautiful?
Knit One, Crochet Too: This eccentric yarn mixes colors you might not normally place together: turquoise, green and orange. I’m not sure why, but this particular marriage of hues reminds me of the ocean.
Manos Fino: Bringing things back to the basics, this calming yarn boasts subtle shades of blue, brown and cream. I’ve already got so many potential project ideas running through my mind just glancing at this photo.
Olympus Shiny Fur: This funky yarn takes faux fur to another level of fun: it adds shimmer! I don’t know about you, but I think this yarn would turn into a fabulous shrug.
Skacel Knitting: Aside from having an adorable, punny name, this new Tee Cakes yarn is incredibly cute and versatile. I definitely approve of yarn crafted from t-shirt like remnants.
Kollage Yarns: Last, but certainly not least, Kollage showed off their new line of SQUARE knitting needles. That’s right, square. I haven’t had a chance to try them yet, but they’re supposed to be much easier to use and better for your joints.
