That’s right, we have more Recycled Silk Sari Ribbon Yarn to give away! This time we have a purple skein and a brown skein of this wonderfully textured yarn. It’s from Darn Good Yarn and is made from recycled vintage silk sari pieces. We all know that crocheting is an art form and this yarn just proves that textiles can be beautiful and up-cycled.
I especially love the purple skein. It has so many different shades of rich violet color along with a little red here and there. There are so many possibilities for crocheted projects with this type of yarn. Anything from little purses to shawls and scarves and this yarn will definitely make your finished piece a one-of-a-kind.
To make this unique recycled yarn, women in fair trade co-ops collect pieces of vintage recycled silk saris. They are hand torn to widths of about a quarter inch, and then sewn together end-to-end. The result is this stunning, exotic ribbon yarn. Each skein measures 100g long and contains about 180 feet of vintage sari ribbon. Which is quite a lot of yarn to have fun with and crochet something quite stunning.
This yarn is available in a wide variety of beautiful colors. Although it may appear delicate, it is really quite durable. Even just holding these skeins, I can tell that it’s thick and sturdy yarn. Definitely not typical yarn, but that’s what makes it so much fun!

Good luck!

would like to try it
I would love to try out this yarn!
ooooh, so pretty! Not sure if the weight would be right, but I’d love to try a basket…waiting on some wool-ease super chunky to show up for that purpose, but it would be awesome to have a more delicate version looking version.
The look is awesome! The best part…it’s recycled!
Hi, I know how to knit, but not crochet because my sister -RIP 🙁 who tried to teach me was left-handed and I’m right-handed, It just didn’t work, but I would really appreciate any free yarn as I am starting my next Christmas holiday presents for my friends and family now. I would love to make them scarves and/or blankets. Please enter me in your sweepstakes and anyone who knows how to get free yarn, please let me know. Thank you. =)
