October Round-Up: Best Crochet Afghan Patterns

November 9, 2012 by AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns Leave a Comment

I hope you had lovely October! I also hope you crocheted and enjoyed the cooler weather. Here at AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns we kept track of our most popular patterns from last month. If you haven’t already, you should sign up for our free newsletter and you’ll get free patterns every week. That way you’ll know what patterns are trending and have access to new patterns right away. Our readers loved these patterns and we do too. October came and went, but these patterns are here to stay.

  1. Lollipop Baby Blanket
  2. Simple Baby Afghan Tutorial
  3. Blue Spiral Baby Blanket
  4. Hypnotize Me Blanket
  5. Cuddle Dog Afghan
  6. Spiral Baby Blanket
  7. Pistachio Square
  8. Lavender Square
  9. African Flower Hexagon
  10. Cottage Rose Square
  11. Spin Around Square
  12. Blue Flower Hexi

It looks like crocheters loved round baby blanket patterns. We have quite a few round patterns and they seem to be gaining popularity. Jump on board and try one for yourself. With the holidays approaching people are always looking for unique gifts to make. I bet a new mom would love a round baby blanket for her little one.

Best Free Crochet Afghan Patterns from October

Lollipop Baby Blanket  Chinese Screen Afghan  Simple Baby Afghan Tutorial  Lavender Square
Quick and Simple Afghan  Hypnotize Me Blanket  Spiral Baby Blanket  Blue Spiral Baby Blanket
Empire Afghan  Cottage Rose Square  Cuddle Dog Afghan  Pistachio Square
Color-Burst Granny Stripes Blanket  Blush Rose  Spin Around Square  Rainbows and Hearts Blanket

Only a few squares made it into the top 16 patterns above, but there are plenty more on AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns. These granny square patterns are easy and fun to make especially if you’re short on time. One benefit to making granny squares is you can make matching pillows for your afghan. Or if you just want to make a pillow you can do that too. Granny squares let you be creative and inventive. I love the Pistachio Square because there are three different ways to crochet  it. How neat is that?

  1. Victorian Lace Afghan
  2. Chinese Screen Afghan
  3. California Ranch Afghan
  4. Sun Porch Afghan
  5. Mexicana Afghan
  6. Pineapple Afghan
  7. 10 Ravishing Ripple Afghan Patterns
  8. Fans and Pansies Ripple Blanket
  9. Colorful Ripple Afghan
  10. Fuzzy Ripple Afghan

Next up – vintage patterns. There’s something to be said for a pattern that may be older than you. The fact that these patterns are still so well-liked shows how important it is to keep on crocheting. Maybe some of you remember your grandma or great grandma crocheting patterns like these. Carry on the tradition – many other crocheters already are.

I have an idea! If you crocheted any of the patterns above, or are currently crocheting one, I’d love to see pictures! Head on over to the AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns Facebook page and post your WIPs or finished pieces. You can serve as inspiration for others to crochet one of these popular patterns. It’s always fun to see what other crocheters are making and what color yarn they chose to use.

I wish you all a happy November! Remember to sign up for newsletters to get a first look at new and exciting patterns to crochet.
