7 Perfectly Peacock Afghan Patterns

August 17, 2014 by AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns

Peacocks are such elegant birds. At the Milwaukee County Zoo in Wisconsin, the peacocks just strut around freely like they’re hot stuff — and they are! Who can resist the colors and patterns on their feathers? They are truly one of nature’s loveliest designs.

Here are some interesting facts about peacocks from National Geographic Online and other spots on the web:

1. The ones with the beautiful trains are male. The female has plain brown feathers, and is called a peahen. The word “peacock” refers exclusively to the males.

2. Some species of peafowl are on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s lists of vulnerable and endangered animals. Nooo!

3. In myths and legends, peacocks symbolize  nobility, holiness, guidance, protection and watchfulness. Dreaming about a peacock represents spring, birth, and new growth.

That said, peacocks have inspired some very lovely crochet afghan patterns. I’ve rounded up some of the most gorgeous peacock-inspired patterns around. Don’t be intimidated by these elegant crochet patterns. They’re not all as difficult as they appear!
