I like socks and monsters=) Small and light;)
I like making small things too – amigurumi, coasters, bottle and can holders – nothing large or heavy – it gets too warm here in California.
Small and/or cotton for summer! Dishcloths, hats, fingerless gloves!
I make lots of cotton market bags , towels , swiffer covers and toys….
Summer is generally about the time I start on holiday gifts, since I tend to work slowly and have a lot of people to cover! Christmas STARTS in July! 😀
I always try to keep a stash of baby items for shower gift and prayer shawls.
filet crochet, light weight
I do , doll clothes, baby things, baby afghan’s I don’t letthe summer monthes slow me down.
I catch up on projects. Just finished a thread xmas tree skirt and now am finishing a lap blanket for one of my granddaughters. I have many more to go.
I’m attempting crocheted baby shoes and sandals!
Baby things and summer shawls
I’m making my youngest granddaughter a crochet cover and in the summer I always start on my Christmas gifts. This year my 4 grandkids are getting afghans for their beds, plus I make doilies and I’m also making a tablecloth
I like making shawls, baby clothing and coasters. Sometimes baby blankets if my stash is low.
My favorite is filet crochet. Tablecloths, runners, bedspreads, and curtains to shawls, doilies and wall hangings. There are so many options!
I’m the oldest of 6, all but 2 of us have kids, and I have 4 of my own. My Christmas list is extensive, and summer provides the perfect time to jump on it… not to mention my sister is having a baby soon!
Doilies,thread crochet and Christmas gifts.
I make whatever is on my mind at the time, whatever the season. Yes, I have several times found myself under a huge warm afghan outside in 100 degree weather! lol. I follow what my creativity tells me to do. 😛
I make Christmas things, angels, bells, things to give away and for the tree.I also make baby things. Hats are another favorite thing to do.
I spend my summers getting ready for fall and winter! I make the odd baby item but mostly make holiday gifts of scarves, hats and blankets.
I don’t actually make stuff ‘for’ summer — I’m usually crocheting, knittin or sewing gifts and whatnot for Christmas and winter 🙂
i love to crochet baby things as sweeters, hat booties an one shawl hats for cancer girls i have cancer .i like to give them away an feel joy in my heart. this is a pleasure to me in my treatments. mine an gods love to all Carmen
Slippers, dishcloths and squares for afghans. I try to stay away from larger projects but sometimes it just doesn’t work out that way.
summer shrugs and tops anything usuing lightweight yarn or thread.
I like to make animals for my granddaughters.
I love making barefoot sandals for family and friends. And I have also been making skull hats which is just a open weave hat that dont come all the way down the head like a winter hat.Its a summer type hat that the girls like to wear now. I am also now making winter hats for the homeless shelter.Yea I know its summer but it takes time to make alot of them so what better time to start so I have a abundent supply to give them.
dish clothes, scubbies and the occasional baby item.
Summer bonnets, lightweight scarfs, and shalls!! Lightweight bathingsuit wraps are perfect also! So many project just for summer, just let the summer weather soak in and inspire you! 🙂
I make doilies, shawls, but pretty much whatever comes way. I’ve also worked on afghans, baby items. I go with the creative flow.
For summer I love to make tank tops and lacy scarves for women, adorable fishnet ponchos for toddlers and kids, and huge beach bags and market totes. I’ll also start one wool sweater for the winter to come.
I sell at craft shows in the fall so I am working on inventory all year round. I do lean more toward jewelry and hair accessories on the hot days of summer.
I start thinking about Christmas gifts in the summer because they usually take me a bit longer to make. Things like shawls and blankets. So, I start to go through my list of people and decide what I will make for them. After I decide the larger projects I pick a few smaller projects to give me some variety.
I like crocheting a name in 10 guage crochet thread. They are light and simple for me to do and people that I give them to love them. I put them in a frame with a colored fabric background. Just Beautiful !!
For summer, I love to crochet baby afghans, or lightweight Prayer Shawls. My aunt takes them to folks who are in the hospital, along with puzzle books, etc. Both projects are so much lighter to work with than regular sized afghans, or even throws.
Lacy shawls, light sweaters made in pieces and shrugs, as well.
I teach classes in Crochet (and Knitting and Quilting) at my local JoAnn’s store, so I am working on class samples most of the time. I love amigurumi though since they are small and I can work on them while I sit in the shade on my porch watching my granddaughters play. They love analyzing all the pieces that will go together to make the finished creation!
Alot of times I start working on Christmas presents for our 12 grandchildren so when it is closer to Christmas I can work on customer orders.
I am currently making crochet baskets and hats and other smaller items with cotton yarns. I live in the CA desert and it’s too warm until Fall to work on blankets.
I like dish cloths, towel toppers, arigurumi, and yarn ‘left over’ things. We don’t get a lot of summer here, so when I sit to crochet, I want something easy to put down.
Currently working on a new light and lacy baby afghan I designed. Will be working on other afghans, too, since I found some great new colors I want to use.
I make stuffies year round to keep up with demand. Customers are always wanting something new and the requests are sometimes hard to keep up with!I’m planning on trying monsters this summer though because someone gave me some glow-in-the-dark yarn and I’m dying to see what fun creature I can make with it!
I’ve just started making doilies. Small and light. I think I’ll make a lamp shade out of them, or maybe make a collage and frame them.
In the summer I start making hats(baby caps) to donate for charity (overseas in UMCOR kits) and donate to NICU for premies. I also start on Christmas gifts and anything else I see that I may want to try.
Potholders. Small and lightweight. I can’t crochet bulky things in the heat.
This summer I have made a goal to learn deeper in my craft. I have only made blankets/afghans for years. I am 33 its time to learn how to crochet booties, lil outfits for babies, and what I am working on now is a granny square. I know how terrible. But I am self taught and its been real hard. But I love it. I am a military wife and women are having babies all the time so I love to give out afghans. Which I make mine different. I make them a lot bigger so the baby can grow up with it. So this is my goal this summer, to learn more so I can make more things.. Thank you
I usually make snowflakes, but right now I am working on some early Christmas presents for my grands. I am making them all woolen slippers!!! 🙂
I spend a lot of time running around with kids and sitting in waiting rooms so I like to have small, fast projects. Hats, scarves, and amigurumi are what I usually carry around (no matter the season).
Lace shawl for a wedding.
I usually make dish cloths, they are light and easy to take with me when we go somewhere.
I make doilies and small thread crochet items as well as stuffed animals which I give away as part of a ministry
I crochet baby dresses and I start on my Christmas projects and whatever looks fun to make.
I am trying to start an Etsy store so I am working on inventory . . right now I am crocheting beaded flowers to put on flip flops
Pocketbooks, baby blankets and my favorite to make and use BEACH bags lol
my skill is intermediate in the summer i like to crochet bow’s for the hat’s i’ll make for winter
usually whatever strikes my fancy…right now a few light scarves, and lots of preemie hats for Crafting for a Cure
I like to make quick and easy things in the summer—things that fit in my tote bags to take anywhere. –hats, bags, wraps.
Baby blankets, light weight items!!
I love making summer bags in delicious colors like yellow or turquoise. I work on Christmas gifts and items to sell year round so no project is off limits in the summer. I cannot imagine a day without crochet.
Since I am new to crocheting, I don’t have a summer favorite. I do plan to start selling what I make so I will be starting on Christmas items. I also want to make luminaries. So easy yet so beautiful.
Christmas presents!
Though I am more inspired during the colder months because the mention of knitting and/or crocheting conjures up thoughts of warmth, I do enjoy making “lighter” items like crocheted necklaces, fun flowered headbands, faux sandals, frilly doilies and whatever else pops into my head. Last night I decided to make a purse out of my scraps of cotton yarn and it is turning out very “summery”. Now if I could just decide on handles . . .
I make baby items and light shawls/scarfs. Lacy items are on the agenda!
Being a new knitter, I am enjoying light shawls and scarves. Primarily Shawls.
Right now I’m working on potholders, after I finish them I’ll be making doilies.
I make whatever strikes my fancy! Even winter-type things like afghans. Hey, that’s why we have AC!
I like small projects like socks or hats or dolls
I work on items to enter in the local fairs (a.k.a. Xmas gifts!). Any prize money I win cuts down my gift giving expenses. Any project is fair game if it fits an entry category and a gift recipient!
The season doesn’t make any difference to me when I am knitting. I knit whatever project I want at the time. It may be afghan squares, dishcloths, blankets, hats, scarves, or shawls just whatever.
I work on light and lacy things due to the heat. I usually get all my snowflakes for Christmas done. Also make doilies, coasters, tabletoppers, filet crochet items. Currently finishing a Battenburg Crochet tablecloth! Pretty much anything as long as it’s not to heavy & warm. Can’t really afford to run the air conditioner to work on afghans & other warm things! lol!
I’ll make just about anything for summer other than full-sized afghans (unless it’s squares). My favorites are doilies – compact and very light.
Usually lightweight projects because I get to hot making afghans.
I crochet and knit small granny squares for baby afghans and tons of different crocheted flowers for barrettes, headbands, scrunchies, pins and twistees.
Between 5 siblings, and tons of nieces and nephews, my Christmas list is extensive and takes all year to fill, not to mention my newest niece due in July…
try to make diffrent project for craft shows.grandchildren,or family and friends.season doesn’t make any difference to me.love to crochet, knit,or craft any time of the year.
I am making Bracelets and baby Afghans.
Small pieces like crochet flowers to use on other projects.
I will be making different granny squares for afghans for Christmas; along with scarves, hats and neckwarmers. Also making lots of baby items for my grandchild to be arriving in this world in December.
Flowers and tote bags.
I make spring handbags for all my friends and I also start my Christmas gift crochet. When I need a break, I filet crochet names to use to wrap around gifts.
i get busy making one thing until i’ve made for everybody … this year i’m making shawls. four done, two on the needles and 3 waiting in the wings.
I like to try new patterns that are portable. As long as I’m an crocheting I’m happy!
I’m currently working on scarves, gloves & hats. I also make doilies, Amigurumi, kitchen towel toppers, etc in the summer. I work on the heavier things @ night, after it’s cooled down. While I’m waiting for JW, I’ve been known to drape an afghan over the steering wheel, to keep it off of me while I crochet =)
I love crocheting afghans. I just finished two for my grandsons and one for my great granddaughter.
I make small things during hot months – usually hats, scarves and mittens that go to Salvation Army in the fall. This year I will add Amigurumi for granddaughter toys – not that she needs anything more.
I love to make Care Squares. They are simply chain 25, with a single crochet then skip one, chain one stitch across. I make them with all my scraps, put them together as hot pads, and sell them.
When I am ready to launch my website this summer, I will sell them for 3.00 and donate .50 to a new charity every month.
It’s a great thing to do while watching TV. I even have a little table set up with big balls of scraps tied together underneath and I just make them till I am ready for bed!
OOOOPPPPSSSS. That should have read chain 24…my bad!
Because I am kind of slow thanks to arthritis, I like to work on Christmas gifts all year long. That means an afghan or two, kitchen towels & dish cloths, & now baby things have been added to the list. Whatever suits my fancy, & budget!
I still make lots of hats and caps. but I use lighter yarns, and more plant fibers.
I knit just about anything that peaks my interest, since I have only been knitting about a year. So anything that is a new technique is a project for summer or anytime!
I start to knot a selection of dolls clothes and scarfs and gloves for the Christmas Child shoeboxes.
Lacy light weight shawls
I like to do squares. Easy to take with me and when the weather cools, i can make them into blankets!
Lacy shawls, doilies, hand towels, and scrubbies.
This summer I am knitting a light weight blanket for my first grandson due to arrive the first week of August. I’m doing this by using larger needles than the pattern and yarn call for which makes it light and airy.
My favorite to make, year round, is teddy bears.
Lots of coasters, potholders, and bags – small stuff that doesn’t take much time to make!
I love to make afghans or camping blankets! Tis the season to have a nice warm blanket to cuddle on those cooler camping nights!! Also they are nice for the colder months of winter around here too!!
Working on cotton hooded baby towels – but I also work on Xmas gifts all year because the family is so large – hats, scarves, bags and backpacks, dishrags and towels, ponytail holders and headbands and whatever else I find interesting 😉
Socks and bags. The bags are every sort from yarn bra to purses to shopping bags. Small, portable and cool knitting.
Most of my knittting is done for charity and I do the same things in summer that do the rest of the year. I do use more cotton yarns though since I try to send out the results every 3 momnths or so.
It varies-this year baby hats and booties. Have three friends becoming first time grammas soon!
Then have to start an afghan for a wedding gift in September.
I knit everything in the summer – it’s my best knitting time because I have more knitting time (less carpool time). I love to knit shawls and lace in the summer.
I like to knit or crochet anything small.
I make light shawls..they keep it so cold in my church in summer, I need them to keep warm!
I’ll be restocking my baby gifts and maybe starting on small Christmas gifts.
I start making afghans-before they are needed for the cold months.
Gosh, that’s hard. I tend to make all my birthday gifts during the summer. This year’s theme is: hats, so I’m making hats all summer. Last summer it was mittens. But in general, socks are my VERY favorite thing to make!
Start on Christmas gifts in summer.
Doilies are my main thing during the summer. It’s humid as all get-out from Easter to Halloween and my hands sweat so much that yarn just sticks to my fingers. Bedspread cotton becomes my best friend when it’s hot!
Lacy wraps, and finishing up an afghan for my hubby before football season starts!
I crochet vests, tank tops, and now i make brimmed hats and clothes for my baby girl.
I’m knitting chemo caps for patients at a nearby Cancer Treatment Center.
I just finished two baby knitted ponchos, infant hats, baby girl’s headband, and baby washcloths for two baby showers at work. Made a basket full of knitted potholders, hot pads, and dish cloths with a heart theme for a Chinese Auction for an Avon breast cancer walk team, and now am working on a bridal shower basket with kitchen items listed above and mug rugs. So it depends what is going on with what I am making, but I like small projects in the summer.
I like to knit socks, I just change the pattern on the top of the sock to make them more fun, that way I learn a new pattern each time & try something harder each time.
Squares for afghans and dishclothsM cotton or acrylic – wool makes my hands sweat in the summer
More prayer shawls. We have to keep a good supply!
I knit anything and everything all year around. I already finished a blanket for a little girl with cancer, several barbie wardrobe for my daughter, a skirt for my daughter, eye mask, and etc.
I spend my summers making xmas presents for my 6 grandchildren. On hot days or when travelling, I take work on small projects such as scarves.
I knit socks, lace shawls, dishrags, small things. Love knitting something all the time.
When the weather is hot, I try to make small items that crochet up quickly.
Such as the small little caps for the NICU, Christmas ornaments, crochet edging on baby blankets, small baby afghans, scrubbies, and crochet snowflakes. Also crochet edging on cotton wash cloths. These go to the women’s shelter.
None of these take too much time from start to finish. And WOW ! when you see a dozen scrubbies, baby caps,or a stack of wash cloths it makes you feel as if you have really done a lot of work !
I knit charity items all year long, but will make a couple of towels and wash cloths. Sometimes I am plain lazy and put my feet up!
Just finished a knitted shawl made from Bernat Satin yarn, for my mother’s 90th birthday. She always gets chilly in restaurants when the a/c is running. She will be very surprised and will love it and it is washer and dryer safe.
For this summer, I am crocheting myself a lacy tunic in coral-colored cotton.
Dishcloths, washcloths, baby items
I love making tank tops and light weight sweaters during the summer!! Open and airy!
Socks!
summer beach bags, and light weight scarfs
I am working on baby photo props. Then I want to knit toys.
I make crochet snowflakes for decorating Christmas presents because I don’t have the time later in the yr!
I’m planning to continue making three baby blankets each month for charity, and now my daughter has asked me to make her up a batch of pillowcases with edging, so she can use a fresh case every night. And I have started making a skirt for her, my first adult clothing article. Very exciting summer, indeed!
I have only one brother and his wife is expecting their first baby.I am a beginner in crochet but i will crochet few baby afghans for my lovely neice/nephew.
Boleros! One plain stockinette and another lacey pattern. Perfect to cover up shoulders in a/c places. Love them!
I’m going to finish up some current projects and start on gifts for fall/winter. I’m also going to start a crochet hoodie for me.
Living in Arizona…..IT’S HOT! So anything small and cotton! I replace ratty looking dishcloths mostly but I also make any small embellishments need for larger projects in cooler weather.
I really like knitting fun fur scarfs all summer and watching.
