Red Heart Yarns is welcoming a new contributor this month: Barbara Hannah Grufferman! You might recognize Barbara from her many appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America, and many others. Her book, The Best of Everything After 50, is a resource for women that offers practical advice for how to stay healthy and live positively after age fifty. Now, her latest project is sharing her story over on the Red Heart website and encouraging others to “Share the Joy.”
Barbara taught herself to knit when she turned fifty after finding a box full of delicate doilies that her grandmother had made long ago. Knitting had been important to Barbara’s grandmother, who could not speak English well when she first met her husband. Instead, she knit him a scarf, and, as Barbara says, it was “love at first stitch.” Finding the doilies that her grandmother had made encouraged Barbara to pick up the craft herself so that she could share the love with her family. Now she knits AND crochets, and has even taught both of her daughters to knit, as well!
Check out the video below to hear Barbara’s story, and head on over to the Red Heart website to read more about this exciting collaboration. We can’t wait to see what they have in store!

I am trying to unsubscribe but link not working!
I first learned to crochet from a book by boye called ”I Taught Myself To Crochet”. It was a kit that included all the supplies and the book. I would recommend that book to all.
I am knitting a plain chunky scarf. How can I keep the vertical edges from curling in?
