And now for the big announcement! We asked readers how old they were when they learned how to knit or crochet for a chance to be entered to win copies of two Rita Weiss books: All About Crochet and Everything the Internet Didn’t Teach You About Crochet. The lucky winner is Lisa Landry, who said:
48 years old !! I paid my friends mother (who crochets beautifully) to make a baby blanket for me to give as a gift…and by the way, that blanket was made in Mamou, LA and belongs to a little boy that lives in Shanghai, China. Upon close inspection of that blanket, I fell in love with crochet and decided to teach myself. With the help of tutorials on you tube I have taught myself to crochet… and I’m pretty good at it if I do say so myself !!!
Congrats, Lisa! Read the rest of everyone’s answers here!
If you didn’t win, don’t worry! We’re celebrating I Love Yarn Day all week and there are still chances to win! This would make an awesome christmas gift for some of the ladies that are part of my church craft club.
I really enjoyed crochet master book, I got it from the library.
I have been fighting the temptation to purchase it.
A year ago I got the surprise that I was told I would never have…to become a grandmother! My 2 boys told me that they never wanted children. I had that thought in my head and had come to terms with it. Then my youngest son, 29, and his girlfriend found out they were pregnant. I was beyond thrilled! Then they had a miscarriage. I was devastated for them…and myself. Then in Jan. my eldest told me he and his girlfriend were pregnant. Six weeks ago I was blessed with the girl I have always wanted! My crocheting skills have been busy making hats and booties so far. I want to thank my mother for teaching me to crochet at the age of 8. I have continued to crochet throughout my 57 years of life and will cherish the day I can teach my granddaughter(who shares my name, by the way) the fruit of my dear mother.
