Simply Sweet Seed Stitch Knitting Patterns for Baby

March 21, 2019 by AllFreeKnitting 1 Comment

If you are looking for a great handmade baby gift, look no further!  One of my favorite things to knit for gifts are baby items.  Not only are they fast, but they are also ridiculously adorable.  To take an ordinary knit baby item to a new level, consider adding texture by trying these free knit patterns in seed stitch.  Knitting the seed stitch pattern is very easy, and adds an amazing texture that everyone will love.  Even if you are just learning to knit, the seed stitch is a cinch to master.  If you need a lesson, or a refresher on how to knit the seed stitch, be sure to check out our beginners tutorial here:  Learn How to Knit With a Knit Dishcloth Pattern for Beginners.

Free Seed Stitch Knitting Patterns for Baby:

Seed Stitch Baby Set:  The free easy seed stitch knitting pattern is perfect for baby.  The subtle texture and soft yarn combine to make a layette that baby will look simply sweet in.

Cuddly Seed Stitch Baby Blanket:  Chunky yarn, bright colors and a fun texture.  Baby can’t ask for anything better.

BONUS!  Seed Stitch Knitting Tutorial:

The Seed Stitch is a very common stitch you find in knitting. It is great as a second or third stitch you learn as a knitter because it just uses knit and purl stitches. The knit and purl stitches are alternated for a staggered, lightly bumpy texture. It doesn’t roll up like stockinette stitch, so it makes a great edging, especially for a blanket or a scarf!

Seed Stitch Baby Booties: These baby booties are the perfect last minute baby knit project.  The seed stitch makes them extra special.

Seed and Eyelet Baby Hat: How sweet will a little baby girl look in this delicate seed stitch hat that is embellished with eyelets?

Checkerboard Seed Stitch Blanket:  This Checkerboard Seed Stitch Blanket is going to become baby’s favorite.  Trust me.

Girls Seed Stitch Bolero :  I have made this sweet bolero twice now.  Once for my 2 year old, and again when her best friend kept trying to “borrow” it because she loved it so much.  It took no time at all and is still a favorite.

Sweet Seed Stitch Vest :  While this isn’t necessarily for baby, the pattern can easily be adjusted to fit a younger child.  The construction is just darling and could even be worked up in more masculine colors for a boy.

Cozy Seed Stitch Rug:  Baby’s nursery needs a little run to help keep little toes warm. This seed stitch rug really couldn’t be simpler to make.

Double Seed Stitch Dishcloth:  One of my favorite gifts to give to a new mom is a stack of hand knit seed stitch dishcloths.  The clothes are versatile and feel great on baby’s skin.

Can you knit the baby seed stitch blanket on normal needles and not circular. If so how many stitches would you cast on and what size needles.

    Thank you.
