Our November #StitchAwayStress Big Apple Lemon Drive has now concluded! As you may remember, the aim of this charity drive was to collect knit or crochet lemon stress balls to raise awareness of the stress-relieving benefits of knitting and crocheting. These stress balls will be passed out in New York City during April, which happens to be National Stress Awareness Month as well as when taxes are due – a pretty stressful time of year for most Americans.
We had a pretty amazing response to this charity drive, and it was so fun to see the lemons piling up around the office all month long! With your help, we were able to collect 234 knit and crochet lemons!
(This is only a small fraction of the amount we received!)
If you didn’t mail your lemon in time or would still like to contribute one, the Craft Yarn Council will be collecting lemons at their offices until December 31st, 2015. You can mail them to:
Craft Yarn Council
ATTN: Big Apple Lemon Drive
3740 North Josey Lane Suite 102
Carrollton, TX 75007
The patterns can be found here!
If knitting needles are your weapon of choice, work up this adorable knitting pattern created by blogger Twinkie Chan for the Craft Yarn Council. You’ll need to stuff the lemon with fiberfill in order to give it that round, squishy look.
And here’s the crochet version of the lemon pattern! Equally as sweet (or sour!) and equally as stress-busting. Whichever you decide to work up, you’ll be helping the cause and having fun along the way.
And finally, the winner of our Berocco Bento Box yarn sampler from Jimmy Beans Wool is:
Abby Palmer!
Congratulations! We’ll be in contact with you regarding your prize.
Thank you so much to everyone who donated a knit or crochet lemon!
