We’re in the midst of summer ladies and gentlemen, and you know what that means? It means it’s beach-going season! Which, believe it or not, also means it’s the perfect time to think about making your own crochet tote bag !
I myself have a tendency to bring a lot to the beach with me: sunscreen, towels, cover-up, sunglasses, hat, swimsuit, shorts, reading material, phone, phone charger…you get the idea. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be looking for a good tote bag to help you haul all this to and from the water’s edge.
All that junk gave me the idea to start crocheting my own tote bag! I firmly believe nothing screams summer quite like a colorful yarn tote bag. Beyond that, crocheting a tote bag makes an excellent summer craft (ah great, another thing I have to take to the beach with me).
Once it’s all finished, I can take that sucker to the beach and cart my beach gear around like the master yarn-worker I am! It doesn’t end there though, oh no, crochet tote bags can make wonderful reusable shopping bags, purses, day bags, gift bags, and even gifts themselves!
Crocheting a bag might seem difficult at first, but our friends at AllFreeCrochet have us covered. They’ve got tote designs for all levels of crocheters and they come in a ton of unique styles to suit everyone’s taste. They also have great tutorials that can help improve upon your tote. I mean, the magic circle does make a great flat bottom to the tote, and you can’t make handles without learning a single chain crochet , and there’s even a way to crochet a button onto the tote, no sewing needles required!
Below are some tote-ally amazing tote bags that cater to all crochet skill levels. What are you waiting for? Summer doesn’t last forever!
