I’m Hooked: Win Yarn and a Hook from AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns!

October 19, 2012 by AllFreeCrochetAfghanPatterns 19 Comments

Red Heart Super Saver Yarn and Susan Bates Crochet HookWell folks. I’m hooked. This yarn is a bit mesmerizing and I can’t stop staring at it. This skein is medium worsted weight and is machine washable. A beautiful gradient between brown and green is reminiscent of jungle colors which gives this yarn its name: Amazon. Take a trip to the rainforest and crochet with this yarn. Or you can feel the influence of nature for spring and autumn crochet afghans. The best part about this yarn is you never know how the yarn will change color. It’s the spontaneity of this yarn that makes crocheting so much fun.

The Red Heart Super Saver yarn is a go-to yarn for most crocheters. It’s 100% Acrylic and is a durable yarn. Made in the U.S.A. and made with care, the Super Saver Yarn is your best bet when it comes to crochet.

Susan Bates Crochet HookYou can never have too many crochet hooks, but the Susan Bates Crochet Hook from Coats and Clark is a must have for your collection. This particular hook is a size J-10/6mm with a Bamboo handle. The handle is expertly crafted and has a lightweight quality that is good for crocheting for long periods of time. People say that this hook won’t make your hand cramp up and that the hook works really well with all kinds of yarn. You can read more about Red Heart Yarn in their company profile here.

What would you make with this yarn? Have you used handled hook before?

I would make a cute tote bag. I have never used a hook like that before but I think it would enable me to crochet for a longer period of time.

I would make a super chic poncho. The colors are very earthy; southern heat comes to mind. Then curl up with some cocoa on a haybale.

I would get solid color yarns that match the colors in the amazon yarn and make an afghan. I would alternate solid squares with the amazon squares. Perfect for any male room. Never used a handled hook and never used a hook larger than a size 8. Love to try one.

I have several skeins of this and just made my husband a camouflaged hat. Now making my son an afghan for Christmas & could use another skein! It works up beautifully and was easy to use. I have one handled crochet hook (L) and use it as much as possible ~ my hand never hurts from using it over long periods of time.

I love the wooden handled hooks – thats all I use – they are more comfortable and the width keeps my hands from cramping!! the yarn would make an awesome hat, gloves, and scarf set for my boys!!!

The very first item I crocheted (in 1962) was using variegated yarn. Have used it for many items, but love double stranding by adding a strand of plain contrasting color when I’m making afghans. Makes the variegated colors pop even more and makes my husband and cats happy when there’s a new afghan!

I would make hats for the hunters in my family. These colors look like they would go great with camo hunting gear.

I’ve never used a handled hook. Looks like it would be a comfy fit in my hand though! 🙂

Thanks for the chance to win!!

I’ve never used a hook like that. I’ve had both thumbs reconstructed and carpal tunnel on my left hand fixed. I need to have the carpal tunnel done on my right hand. I knit and crochet every day. I like variegated yarn the best.

This yarn would make a great bag. Colors are great. I would love to work with a new hook! Mine are basic, and I believe some of the new designs may flow better through the yarn. As easier on hands and wrist. Thanks for great products.
