Winter Wearables: 14 Full Patterns

December 23, 2015 by Stitch&Unwind 5 Comments

The weather outside can get pretty frightful this time of year, and there’s nothing delightful about getting caught in the cold with only your fall wardrobe to keep you warm! It’s time to really start thinking about incorporating some bulky yarns and cozy accessories into your clothing collection – after all, there’s no need to buy all new winter clothes when you can make your own (or upgrade the ones you already have!) This also happens to be the time of year when staying inside with my yarn collection seems like the best idea – hmm, sounds pretty convenient to me…

I’ve gathered together our toastiest full patterns from right here on the blog so that you can get started on some cold-weather projects. These are free, easy crochet patterns as well as knitting patterns, so you don’t have to pay a dime to get a whole new look! From free crochet scarf patterns to knit and crochet shawl patterns, you’re guaranteed to find what you need to keep warm this winter. Let it snow!

I’ve been looking all over for instructions on how to incorporate crocheted yokes (front and back) into a fabric tunic top. Can anyone there help me out? If there are patterns out there, and you can steer me to them, I’d really appreciate it! Summer is on the way.

Funny thing – I had the same question over 2015 summer! I found my answer in Edie Eckman’s book titled Around The Corner Crochet Borders on page 18. Using what she demonstrates on that page I was able to join a yoke to a woven fabric nightdress and wow did that project turn out fab! So fab my oldest granddaughter asked for one in her size (win-win-win when the grands want something Gran is sporting:). I found the yoke pattern in a musty old ‘vintage’ crochet book the library was selling off as a discard.

Thought you should know – after AllFreeCrochet got me completely hooked on crochet to the point of what can only be called a crochet obsession and reading Stitch&Unwind now has me eating-breathing-sleeping knitting. Quite an achievement on your part, really, as this time last year I was just learning to crochet in the round after over ten years of only being able to single crochet rectangles:) Thanks to the crochet help and free patterns I’ve found here I actually buy and happily crochet up intermediate and advanced patterns now from many of the designers you’ve featured and I can see the knitting is going the same way:) Thank-you very much for yarn addiction assist over the past years, I’m looking very much forward to many more years of inspiration from your sites!
